at St. Peter’s
OCEAN CITY – St. Peter’s United Methodist Church will have its annual plant sale 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9.
The sale will be outside in front of the church on Central Avenue at the corner of Central Avenue and Eighth Street in Ocean City.
Choose from a variety of flowers, vegetables and other ornamental plants that are ready to be put in the ground or into planters now to be enjoyed throughout the summer. Plants are provided by Galloway Nursery.
St. Peter’s will accept cash, checks and credit cards for payment. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the projects of United Women in Faith.

OCEAN VIEW – The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township (HPSUT) meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the Upper Township Senior and Wellness Center, 1369 Stagecoach Road, Ocean View.
The topic for the public meeting is “Cleaning Gravestones of Local Revolutionary War Soldiers.”
Barbi Harris is knowledgeable in history and genealogy. She is also experienced with cleaning old gravestones. She is especially interested in very early Colonial and Revolutionary War era soldiers’ stones. She will share her tips about what she has found successful on maintaining gravestones.
She is a trustee for Head of River Church and Cemetery, a member of Seaville Quaker Meeting, and has cleaned gravestones at each location as well as other cemeteries. She is also an active member of the General Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Please join in.

Arts Showcase
OCEAN CITY – Celebrate young artistic talent at the Ocean City Music Pier, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9, during the Ocean City Schools Arts Showcase.
The district will display the exceptional talents of the community’s young artists. Presented by primary, intermediate and high school students, this event will feature an eclectic mix of creative works and live performances.
Admission is free, providing the community with the opportunity to support and celebrate the artistic talents of our youth. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a special reception and recognition ceremony scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy an interactive Makers Corner, where guests of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on art-making activities. Live performances will take place throughout the day, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

Linda Gentille & The Jersey Shore Pops has announced the lineup for the 2026 concert season.
They will open the season with a special tribute to America’s 250th anniversary celebration at 7 p.m. July 25 at Lower Cape May Regional High School.
“Stars & Stripes Forever” will feature the amazing comedy piano entertainer as Gentille dazzles and conducts from the piano. The show will be a tribute to the great American composers such as Gershwin, Berlin, Porter and Stephen Foster.
Gentille performs around the world on luxury cruise ships and on land. Her show includes artistry, comedy and memory tricks.
“Judy & Liza” is a tribute show at the Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point. Shows are set for 2 and 6 p.m. Oct. 24. Tickets are $40 and can be ordered (609) 653-0553.
“A Bocelli Christmas” is a tribute to Andre Bocelli at 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. The show will feature the music of Bocelli along with holiday favorites.

Prayer gathering
OCEAN CITY — Churches and community leaders from across the region will gather for a unified evening of worship, Scripture, and prayer at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Ocean City Tabernacle, in collaboration with First Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Ocean City.
This local gathering is part of the National Day of Prayer, a longstanding national observance established by Congress and held annually on the first Thursday in May. In 2026, the event holds special significance as the nation marks its 250th anniversary alongside the 75th National Day of Prayer calling Americans to seek God together in a historic and unifying moment.
The evening service will follow a structured, Scripture-centered format, guiding attendees through focused times of prayer for the nation and its leaders, public safety and first responders, the church, families and the next generation, the local community and businesses, and those who are sick, hurting, or in need.
Each movement of prayer will be anchored in Scripture and paired with congregational worship, featuring historic hymns such as All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name, In Christ Alone, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, It Is Well, and Be Thou My Vision.
The service will also include the reading of the National Day of Prayer Proclamation, a devotional message from Pastor Luke Bert of First Presbyterian Church, and a closing time of dedication praying over the city, churches, visitors, and the upcoming summer season.
The 2026 National Day of Prayer theme, “Glorify God Among the Nations – Seeking Him in All Generations” (1 Chronicles 16:24), serves as the foundation for the evening, reflecting a call for unity, humility, and renewed dependence on God across generations.
All are invited to attend this community-wide gathering as Ocean City joins thousands of events across the country in a shared moment of prayer.

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Yacht Club is celebrating its historic 125th anniversary this year. The club was incorporated in 1901 “for the purpose of encouraging and promoting amateur yachting on Great Egg Harbor Bay and its tributaries.”
The club’s official “Opening Day” of summer 2026 is May 23. The summer-long calendar includes social and boating activities and special events that are planned for members of all ages. During the off-season, the Club hosts a variety of socials for adults and families. There is no need to be a church member or from Ocean City to attend. “It is a time to share your story, to tell of your grief and talk of your loved one. Support Group
OCEAN CITY — St. John Lutheran Church, Journey Hospice, and The Shores — a United Methodist Communities (UMC) community — are partnering to offer a monthly Grief Support Group for adults who are navigating the difficult journey of loss.
The group provides a safe, welcoming and confidential space where individuals can come together to share their experiences, listen, and support one another. Whether someone has recently experienced a loss or is still processing grief from years past, all are welcome.
Meetings will be held in person on the second Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon at St. John Lutheran Church, 1001 Central Ave.
“Grief is a deeply personal experience, but it doesn’t have to be experienced alone,” group coordinators Beth Gebhart and Michele Musto said. “This group is about honoring each person’s journey and finding hope in shared understanding.”

Crisis Intervention
Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).
FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.
FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
