Quality craftsmanship, materials, design raise Gardens home to apex

OCEAN CITY — The attention to detail is exceptional in every aspect of the home at 827 Seacrest Road in the popular Gardens section of the city.

“This meticulous Gardens property has been gorgeously and completely renovated and has all of the bells and whistles you are looking for in your new Ocean City home,” real estate agent Joe Sheppard said. “This home was created with large family gatherings in mind, from the large open-concept living area to the multiple dishwashers and ovens, this home will be perfect for your next holiday get-together.”

The quality of materials and craftsmanship are evident immediately in the home’s curb appeal. Its symmetrical design starts out front, where a paver walkway evenly divides the grassy front lawn. Ornamental trees and mulched beds bursting with low shrubs and flowering plants flank the brick and slate steps leading up to the covered front porch. More landscaping lines the fence to the left, while a concrete drive large enough for two cars leads back to the

A triple window to each side of the solid-wood front door with 12 glass panes and side panels features grates that appear to split them into individual panes as well. A peaked roof rises above the first floor, adding an interesting architectural element. A set of double windows atop the metal porch roof flank this peak, with their blue shutters offsetting the light gray of the cedar siding. An oval window in the middle is a few feet below the cupola and weather vane.

The front door opens to reveal a cozy living room to the left and welcoming dining area to the right. The handsome staircase splits the home right down the middle. The sightline extends through the den and out to the patio, where the pool sparkles in the sunshine.

Ocean City builder John Andrews renovated the home, using all materials reclaimed from old resort buildings. The 3,140-square-foot home now features many of the amenities for which the builder is known, such as 6-foot-high wood wainscoting and fantastic millwork such as the Colonial-style door and window headers and crown molding.

The color scheme is white with hints of tans and grays.

The first floor features a formal living room, casual living room (each with a fireplace), formal dining room, additional dining area, gourmet kitchen, study, powder room and laundry room.

Mirage hickory medium-plank hardwood flooring is found throughout the home, except for in the bathrooms where there is tile.

On the left, the formal living room features a sofa and two armchairs atop an area rug, centered around a stone-front gas fireplace with a wood mantel. Windows to either side, plus the triple in front, make this a bright and cheery space. A sliding barn door opens to reveal a wall-mounted television.

Past a door to the closet under the stairs, French doors on the left open into the study. The built-in desk with drawers and book shelves make this the perfect place to work from home, even at a shore home. The window on the side has a plantation shutter.

A casual den with a sofa and two armchairs and a dining area are in the back left. A second stone-front fireplace sits beneath barn-style bifold doors hiding another wall-mounted TV, which is flanked by built-in curio cabinets with clerestory windows above. A round wood table that seats four rest beneath a nautical-style hanging lamp that matches the larger one above the dining room table. A double slider leads out to the patio.

Back in the foyer, the dining room to the right features a long wood table with six chairs and a bench, enough room for the whole family to gather around for dinner.

Just steps away is the kitchen, featuring a long center island with two pendant lights and three stools. To the left is a two-door stainless-steel Sub-Zero refrigerator with bottom freezer drawer. White Plain & Fancy cabinets with quartz countertops wrap around to the left, where a wet bar with glass-front cabinets and a U-Line wine cooler are conveniently located. On the right wall are more cabinets with a plate wrack. A two-basin ALLIA porcelain sink is flanked by stainless-steel Asko dishwashers. Other appliances include a stainless-steel Wolf oven under the counter and a Sharp microwave in the end of the island. A stainless-steel Wolf six-burner range/oven stands against the back wall. It includes both a down-draft exhaust and hood with a tile backsplash.

A hall off the kitchen leads to a pantry closet with double swinging solid-wood doors and a built-in cushioned bench next to the door to the garage.

A long laundry room features lots of cabinets and quartz counters with a subway tile backsplash and a Blanco utility sink. The washer and dryer are made by Electrolux. There also is a second washer and dryer, as well as a second refrigerator, in the garage.

The steps to the second floor and wood with a carpet inlay. They feature white risers and hardwood treads matching the color scheme on the first floor.

Atop the stairs are four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

To the right is the master bedroom suite, featuring a king-size bed atop an area rug flanked by windows. A gas fireplace at the foot of the bed has a wall-mounted TV behind another set of wood bi-fold doors. The walk-in closet has a built-in organizer. A sliding-glass door opens onto a private deck overlooking the patio and pool. It has cushioned wicker furniture.

The master bathroom has a quartz-topped Luxor vanity with his and hers sinks beneath a wide mirror. The tiled shower has a swinging glass door.

A hall bathroom is just atop the stairs. It features a tile floor, Kohler pedestal sink, a porcelain tub with subway tile walls and a curtain.

The second bedroom has wood-paneled walls and four twin beds. One wall is taken up by a world map in shades of blue. A triple window in the back provides abundant natural light.

A junior master suite is located in the front right. It too has a king-size bed and gas fireplace with a wall-mounted TV, as well as a closet with double swinging doors. Its full bathroom has a tile floor, granite-topped vanity and large tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

The final bedroom has fully paneled walls and a queen-size bed.

Back in the hall, a door opens onto a walk-up attic.

Back outside, the concrete driveway leads up to a one-car attached garage. A gate in the 6-foot vinyl fence opens onto the backyard. A small grassy area and mulched flowerbeds line the fence. An enclosed outside shower is just to the left, where the yard transitions into the paver patio surrounding the in-ground swimming pool. There are multiple seating area for dining, sunbathing or simply relasing with a cold beverage.

A 20-foot-wide sets of brick and slate steps leads up to the partially covered back porch, where a double sliding-glass door opens onto the den.

“Located in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods on the island, right next to one of Ocean City’s finest beaches, this is the perfect home,” Sheppard said.

The home is listed for $2.75 million with Joe Sheppard of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 602-0501 or email jshepp1006@gmail.com.
