JEAN WAGNER, 94

Born in Philadelphia in 1929 to her loving parents, Raymond and Helen Sunderland, she was raised in Atlantic City and later relocated to Ocean City in 1950.

Following high school, she was employed by PPG Industries and later Sherwin-Williams. In Ocean City, she owned and operated The Picket Fence, a children’s wear and gift shop on the corner of Eighth Street and Ocean Avenue in the first floor of her parents’ hotel, The Sandaway. Later, she ran her own interior decorating business, Jean Wagner Interiors.

Jean was in faithful fellowship with those meeting at Linwood Gospel Chapel since 1937, over 80 years. Additionally, during her lifetime, she was involved with Cape May County 4-H extension services and helped initiate the annual Cape May County 4-H Fair.

Preceded in death by beloved husband, Paul D. Wagner, she is survived by daughter Janet Struckell, son Glenn, his wife Amy, and grandchildren Samantha and Micah.

Private service and burial to be held with family only at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission in her name.

“Absent from the body, at home with her Lord.” Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood–Ventnor. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
