William Thompson Powell III, 88

William Thompson Powell II, 88, of Somers Point, passed quietly in his sleep Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020.

Bill was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Ocean City to the late William T. and Margaret (nee Clark) Powell.

He graduated from Ocean City High School class of 1950, then spent four years in the U.S. Navy. Bill then continued on to earn an industrial engineering degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Bill was married to Patricia (nee Denney) on Nov. 23, 1957, and they were married 63 years.

He followed his passion for the stock market to become a financial adviser for Neuberger/Advest Inc. for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, major construction projects around the home, including room additions and bulkheads, along with spending copious amounts of time with family and friends. He was also actively involved in and was past president of the Exchange Club of Ocean City.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Pat, his children: Dan (Andrea) and Linda, and grandchildren: Michael, Kelsea, Bill Gleeson and Lillian Powell and two great-grandchildren on the way.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the Terrace’s and Sea Crest Village for the care and kindness shown to Bill and his family.

A service to celebrate and remember Bill will be planned when restrictions are lifted.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
