Veterans Outpatient Clinic is expanding, relocating to Linwood

LINWOOD – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is planning to expand health care services in Atlantic County. The current Community Based Outpatient Clinic is based in Northfield and will be relocating two miles away to Linwood.

The clinic is set to double in size to over 22,000 square feet, which will enable a much-needed expansion of critical services to South Jersey veterans, according to U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew. Health care services will be provided without interruption at the Northfield clinic throughout the design, construction, and opening of the new clinic. The Linwood clinic will have increased parking and transit access, making the new clinic more accessible for patients.

“For the last four years, I have been actively involved in ensuring that this expansion of veteran health care services would come to fruition, and have fought relentlessly every step of the way,” Van Drew said. “We have thousands of veterans in South Jersey, and they deserve the highest quality of care, and now, our veterans will have access to three state of the art clinics between Cape May, Cumberland, and Atlantic Counties. This is a huge announcement, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished to ensure our Veterans have the care they deserve.”

“Now that we have approval to proceed with 1201 Linwood Acquisitions, LLC we can begin design of the new site,” said Kim Butler, Associate Director, Wilmington VAMC. “As design of this new, state of the art clinic, progresses we look forward to involving our staff and stakeholders to ensure we best meet the current and future needs of our  veterans.”

“In the last five years we’ve seen more than a 12 percent increase in the number of veterans we serve in southern New Jersey,” said Jeffery Beiler, Interim Director, Wilmington VAMC. “Our goal is to provide more services to our Veterans in their communities. This expanded clinic will not only allow us to increase the services already offered at our current location, but also makes space for the addition of new services such as x-ray, CT scan, and physical therapy.”
