Solin Lee, 95

After several years of declining health, Solin Lee passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence at The Shores in Ocean City, New Jersey on April 30, 2026. Born and raised in Ocean City and a long time resident, she was 95.

She is survived by her sister, Belinda (Georgia), three brothers Kenneth (New York), James (New York) and John (Virginia), three nieces Alexis (Maryland), Caryn (Virginia) and Alyssa (Virginia), and three nephews Michael (Georgia), Timothy (New York) and Daniel (California).

Solin is preceded in death by her father and mother Sing Wah and Yick Shee Lee, and siblings Gary, Floway, Hallway, Helen, Bolin “Betty”, Tommy and Mary. She was the seventh of twelve children. The Lee Family members were the earliest US citizens of Chinese ancestry to reside in Ocean City. They were well known, easily recognized and highly respected throughout the city as the only year-round Chinese American residents. Very devoted to her parents, Solin grew up helping in the family laundry business, which opened in 1912 and continued for more than 39 years. She graduated from Ocean City High School in 1950 and afterwards continued with nurse’s training at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City. She earned her credentials and was certified by the University of the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse. Later she qualified for and achieved Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) status. As an advanced registered professional nurse, she assisted in administering anesthesia and in monitoring patients before, during and after surgical procedures at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and later at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

She frequently returned to the family residence in the 900 block of Asbury Avenue in Ocean City to care for her parents as her siblings graduated from Ocean City High School and relocated to different parts of the country to continue their careers. After retiring from the medical profession and the intense pace of operating rooms, she returned to enjoy full time residency in the town she loved. She helped with overseeing the family property and managing the real estate rentals. She frequently bicycled the boardwalk and walked throughout the area, where she got to know many of the summer vendors and regularly visited year-round residents and local businesses.

Later she relocated to The Shores, where she resided for the last ten years. There she renewed her childhood interests in ceramics and painting. Solin was the last of the Lee Family to reside year-round in Ocean City. She is remembered for her dedication to medical care and health, her kindness to everyone and her devotion to family.

A celebration of her life will be a private family event.  Arrangements are by the Godfrey Funeral Home of Ocean City. For condolences to the family, please visit www.godfreyfuneralhome.com.
