OCEAN CITY – The Shore Medical Center Auxiliary invites the community to its Annual Thrift Shop Fashion Show & Brunch 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at a new location, the historic Flanders Hotel in Ocean City.

OCEAN CITY – St. Peter’s United Methodist Church will have its annual plant sale 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9.
The sale will be outside in front of the church on Central Avenue at the corner of Central Avenue and Eighth Street in Ocean City.
Choose from a variety of flowers, vegetables and other ornamental plants that are ready to be put in the ground or into planters now to be enjoyed throughout the summer. Plants are provided by Galloway Nursery.

Safe Boating

OCEAN CITY – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 81, is offering the “Boat America” one-day course on multiple dates during 2026.
Classes will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 at Waterfront Marine in Somers Point and June 6 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Eight Street and Central Avenue, Ocean City.
The cost of the course is $65.
“Boat America” is the Auxiliary’s basic safe boating class. New Jersey law requires all operators of power boats complete an approved boating safety class as a requirement for obtaining a NJ Boating Safety Certificate. This course will provide the knowledge necessary to obtain that certification, without the need to study before the class and includes the proctored exam.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Jersey Cape Con is set to return to the Cape May Court House branch of the Cape May County Library System from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25.
The free, all-ages event will provide opportunities for patrons can shop from local vendors, meet local authors, play board and video games, make crafts and attend workshops.
Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters to enter the cosplay contest, test their knowledge with the trivia contest, battle it out in a video game tournament and figure their way out of Superman’s Escape Room.

Arts Showcase
OCEAN CITY – Celebrate young artistic talent at the Ocean City Music Pier, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9, during the Ocean City Schools Arts Showcase.
The district will display the exceptional talents of the community’s young artists. Presented by primary, intermediate and high school students, this event will feature an eclectic mix of creative works and live performances.
Admission is free, providing the community with the opportunity to support and celebrate the artistic talents of our youth. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a special reception and recognition ceremony scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy an interactive Makers Corner, where guests of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on art-making activities. Live performances will take place throughout the day, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The new Cape May Renaissance Faire is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2-3 at the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House.
The event promises immersive and whimsical fun, fantasy, music, crafts, food and drink, providing a unique escape for families and the young at heart.
The event aims to bring the rich traditions of medieval-era entertainment to the local community. Attendees can try their hand at archery and axe throwing, shop with various artisanal vendors and watch the many entertaining performances on four stages. OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Yacht Club is celebrating its historic 125th anniversary this year. The club was incorporated in 1901 “for the purpose of encouraging and promoting amateur yachting on Great Egg Harbor Bay and its tributaries.”
The club’s official “Opening Day” of summer 2026 is May 23. The summer-long calendar includes social and boating activities and special events that are planned for members of all ages. During the off-season, the Club hosts a variety of socials for adults and families. OCEAN CITY — St. John Lutheran Church, Journey Hospice, and The Shores — a United Methodist Communities (UMC) community — are partnering to offer a monthly Grief Support Group for adults who are navigating the difficult journey of loss.
The group provides a safe, welcoming and confidential space where individuals can come together to share their experiences, listen, and support one another. Whether someone has recently experienced a loss or is still processing grief from years past, all are welcome.
Meetings will be held in person on the second Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon at St. John Lutheran Church, 1001 Central Ave.
“Grief is a deeply personal experience, but it doesn’t have to be experienced alone,” group coordinators Beth Gebhart and Michele Musto said. “This group is about honoring each person’s journey and finding hope in shared understanding.”

Crisis Intervention
Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).
FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.
FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
