Sea Isle family donates to Cape Regional Center for Wound Healing

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – George Gillespie and his children Daniel, Brian, Kevin, and Megan decided to show their appreciation to the Center for Wound Healing Team at Caqpe Regional Medical Center for the care given to their late wife and mother, Nancy Gillespie.

After speaking with the Wound Care team, George Gillespie chose to make a donation for the purchase of the Welch Allyn Vital Sign Machine.  This new state-of-the-art digital equipment reads blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen levels in less than a minute.

At an informal ceremony at the Center for Wound Healing, Gillespie and his son, Daniel, presented a check in the amount of $4,277. “Thank you for the care and kindness given to Nancy while she was a patient at the center.  We know Nancy would be thrilled to support the exceptional wound care provided by Cape Regional’s Center for Wound Healing.  We are proud to make this donation in Nancy’s memory,” George Gillespie said.

“On behalf of the entire team, we want to express our deepest sympathies on the passing of Nancy Gillespie.  Nancy was always a pleasure and brightened our day during every appointment,” stated Rosemary Newbold, RN, manager, Center for Wound Healing. “We are grateful to the Gillespie Family for their generous support of the Center for Wound Healing.”

Nancy Gillespie

After an injury to her leg in 2018, Nancy Gillespie became a patient at Cape Regional’s Center for Wound Healing to aid in healing her wound.  She and the team quickly bonded and over the next five years as Nancy needed care for other injuries, she always returned to the Wound Center for treatment, according to the center. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Sea Isle City in 1973.  As a longtime resident of Cape May County, she served as a court recorder for the Sea Isle City Municipal Courts as well as a teacher’s aide at the Sea Isle City Public Schools.  Prior to her passing in March 2023, she and her husband were married for 53 years; the couple had four children and nine grandchildren.
