Michael J. Calise

Michael J. Calise suddenly passed away on May 15th, 2025 at his residence in Seaville, NJ. 

Born in Nagasaki, Japan to the parents, Michael and Maria Calise. Soon after Michael was born, they traveled to Ocean City, NJ where his parents would continue to grow their family. After graduating Ocean City High School in 1977, he attended Pfeiffer College to continue his love for baseball. In 1983, he married his love Cathy Meier, built their forever home and filled it with their three boys. Michael began working for the US Postal Service in 1985 and was a devoted postman until retiring in 2021. After retiring he served as the US Postal Workers Union President.

Mike had many passions throughout his life; cooking, hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, and coaching. Baseball was a way of life for Mike that started as a child on the fields of Ocean City and continued in to college, softball leagues and coaching for many, many years. While coaching his sons he eventually became a board member for the Upper Township Baseball Association. Until his passing he was still helping coach his grandson’s baseball teams.

Above all, his true love was found within his friends and family. Mike was a man that wore his heart on his sleeve and enjoyed teaching his skills to all.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Maria Calise and his brother Joseph.

Michael is survived by his wife Catherine M. Calise (Meier), children Michael(Marjorie) Calise lll, Kyle(Brittany) Calise and Matthew Calise (Bryana Murphy). Grandchildren Michael IV, Ettabelle, Evelyn, Aubree, Colton, Noah, Cahya, Johnny and Michael. Sisters Maryanne(Steve) Callahan, Carol(Steve) Longo and Trish(James) Betts, sister-in-law Patty(Jay)Green, brother-in-law Michael Meier and many nieces and nephews.

Friends can greet the family on Saturday, May 31st at the Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Ave, Ocean City, NJ from 9am-11am. The memorial service will be held at 11am and burial to follow at Seaside Cemetery in Marmora, NJ. A luncheon will be held for family and friends at Everly Railroad, 171 Railroad Ave, Tuckahoe NJ. The family welcomes all to wear their favorite sports Jersey in honor of Mike.

Memorial contributions can be made in Michael’s name to Easton Alley, a memorial space in honor of Easton Beisler. Easton Alley will be a dedicated area at our baseball complex, designed not only to remember Easton’s vibrant spirit but also to serve as a space for reflection, connection, and inspiration for young athletes and families in our community.
