Mainland Regional High School prom set for June 3

By CRAIG D. SCHENCK/Sentinel staff

LINWOOD — The prom will go on.

Chief School Administrator Mark Marrone announced March 4 that Mainland Regional High School will be holding a senior prom Thursday, June 3, at The Point in Somers Point.

“Due to existing social distancing and ‘gathering’ limitations, coupled with the fact that last year’s juniors, who are currently seniors, did not have a prom, the district will hold a senior prom,” Marrone stated in a letter to the student body, noting the event will be held outdoors, rain or shine, under canopies throughout the facility.

Marrone said the beachfront bar would be closed to the public during the event.

“We apologize in advance to our juniors,” he stated, “but at this time, the district believes that a senior prom permitting Mainland seniors to attend with a guest will provide these students an opportunity to safely come together and celebrate the culmination of their high school careers.”
