Barbara Komarnicki, 89

Barbara Komarnicki, 89 was called home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2024.

She is predeceased by her husband (Jim Komarnicki) and son (Jimmy Komarnicki).

Barb is survived by her children Susan Komarnicki, grandson Tim Carper (Annie), 2 great grandchildren Harrison and Ella Louise; son Scott Komarnicki (Leslie) and grandchildren Lauren, Julia, Megan, and Andrew; her grandson Tim Komarnicki (Yuka).

She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to William and Ruth Kern. Barb attended West Chester State Teacher’s College receiving her teaching degree. Her college roommates became lifelong friends. There, she met the love of her life, Jim, and married in 1957. As Barb was an only child and Jim one of ten, she found herself surrounded by an enormous, loving family whom she adored.

Barb loved to teach. She was a kindergarten teacher throughout her life, lastly a pre-school teacher at Norfolk Christian School Beach Campus. She also loved to play the piano, which she did masterfully and taught many students the skill in her home.

She had an infectious smile and could light up a room. She was funny, frugal and most importantly, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Barb was involved in Young Life, Christian Women’s Club, countless bible studies and mentoring young women in Christ. She also sponsored many children through various charities.

We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers, especially Dove and Darlene, for helping to care for our mom so that she could remain in a loving household until her passing.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00pm at her home church, Virginia Beach Community Chapel, 1261 Laskin Road Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Norfolk Christian Schools- Beach Campus.  1265 Laskin Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23451
