Russell S. Leary Jr.

Russell S. Leary Jr.  of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Ocean City, New Jersey died on October 2, 2022.

Mr. Leary was born September 8, 1919  in Philadelphia and lived for most of his life in Drexel Hill, PA.  He was a 1937 graduate of Upper Darby High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania.   During his school years Russ was a proud  member of the Ocean City Beach Patrol,  first as a mascot and then as a lifeguard.  He was elected into the OCBP Hall of Fame in 2013.

He worked as a chemical engineer for the Philadelphia Quartz Company for over forty years where he held several management positions before retiring as vice president.   He supported his community as chairperson of the Upper Darby Adult School Board, founding member of the Lansdowne YMCA and board member of Suburban Swim Club.

In his spare time he loved to play golf and of course go to the beach and body surf.

Survivors include:  his children Barbara Dion (Art) and Bruce (Kathy), five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by his wives:  Evelyn Davis, Ann Lott Schubert and Irene Fusko Vito.
