Human remains found in Middle Township

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, and Chief

Tracey Super of the Middle Township Police Department announced that on March 3, a county

resident was walking in a wooded area in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township and discovered

what appeared to be a human skull.

The discovery was immediately reported to the Middle Township

Police Department.

Following the report, investigators from the Middle Township Police Department, Lower Township

Police Department, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the Cape May County Land Search and

Rescue Team, and the New Jersey Department of Corrections Land Search and Rescue Team conducted a

coordinated search of the surrounding area, according to Sutherland and Super.

They said as a result of that search, skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were located and recovered.

At this time, a positive identification has not been made. Prosecutor Sutherland stated that the

investigation remains ongoing, and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

He further advised that there is no threat to the public at this time.

Prosecutor Sutherland urges anyone with information regarding this investigation, or any illegal activity
