Waterfront dream house boating paradise in city’s secluded Riviera section

OCEAN CITY — The lagoon-front home at 2009 Glenwood Drive in the city’s secluded Riviera neighborhood was built to take advantage of its waterfront location in more ways than one.

It features 50 linear feet of floating dock with slips for multiple craft — both motorized and self-propelled — water views from almost every room and materials inside and outside that stand up well to moisture — in addition to the lagoon there also is an in-deck swimming pool.

The dockage on Pitcairn Harbor provides a safe anchorage with access to Beach Thorofare and Great Egg Harbor Bay and is sheltered by Shooting Island, making it a terrific location for fishing fans and hardcore boaters, as well as recreational kayakers and paddleboarders.

Atop the floating dock, the entire rear area of the property is covered in long-lasting, durable and attractive composite decking, with multiple locations for deck furniture, a 3- to 4-foot-deep saltwater pool and a dedicated gas line for a grill. The area was designed for waterfront entertainment and enjoyment.

The 3,628-square-foot, three-story home has one of the better-looking front facades in the area — since all of the action takes place in the back, some are just a couple of garage doors and a small porch — with two sections of grassy lawn divided by a paver-stone parking pad in front of a two-car garage with separate doors. The setup provides parking for six vehicles. A mulched bed with flowering shrubs curves around the side of the house beneath the covered front porch. There are gates in the 6-foot fence on both sides of the home.

Atop the porch, a tall wooden door with a side panel opens onto a foyer area. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship are immediately evident in the 6-foot-tall board-and-batten wainscoting lining both sides of the long hall leading back to the great room. The floor is wood-impression ceramic tile.

The first of the home’s six bedrooms is just to the right. It has a queen-size bed and two armchairs atop an area rug inside two tall windows with plantation shutters, something found on nearly every window in the home. One wall has more of the wainscoting. To the left are a walk-in closet and full bathroom with a granite-topped vanity sporting his and hers sinks. Tile about 5 feet high on one wall flows right into the shower, which is fully tiled and has a swinging glass door.

Across the main hall is the second stop on the elevator, which has four including one in the garage.

A couple of more steps down the hall is the entrance into the great room, which is wide open with the living room area to the right, kitchen and dining area to the left. A double sliding glass door to the right and a triple window to the left provide amazing views of the lagoon out back, as well as the pool and back deck.

The living area features a couple of sofas resting on an area rug in front of a gas fireplace with a wooden mantle and large-screen television above flanked by tall window.

A beautiful wood table is nestled in the back, left corner beneath a hanging lamp, alongside granite-topped cabinets the stretch into the kitchen just a couple of steps away. A tall glass-front cabinet is situated between two more windows on the side of the house.

The kitchen features one of the largest center islands in the city, with space for at least four stools on one side and a rectangular stainless-steel sink and GE Monogram dishwasher on the other.

Other appliances — all GE Monogram stainless-steel models — include a built-in Advantium double oven and an induction range top in the counter, as well as the two-door refrigerator/freezer. Glass-front and standard cabinets line two walls.

A hallway leading back toward the front of the house — between the refrigerator and pantry closet — provides access to the garage as well as a full bathroom behind a pocket door. Another pocket door opens onto a small room with a washer and dryer and door opening onto the side yard.

Back in the great room, a set of stairs leads up to a landing with a tall, arch-topped window and up again to the second floor. Wide-plank hardwood flooring is found throughout this level except in the bathrooms.

Straight ahead is a large storage closet with double sliding doors just outside the master bedroom to the right. The suite has the best view in the house through a sliding glass door with a transom flanked by windows overlooking the lagoon and deck below. Outside is a deck with glass railings so as not to obstruct the view.

The suite also has a full bathroom with walls tiled 5 feet high, a custom-built granite-topped vanity with a center tower of drawers between his and hers sinks and a shower large enough for a small crowd with three separate heads.

Back in the hall, a long hall provides access to four more bedrooms — one with a private front deck, another with a private bathroom — and a hall bathroom with direct a door off a third bedroom. This bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling, including in the shower, and has a granite-topped vanity with his and hers sinks.

Just outside the bathroom is a set of stairs to the third floor, which is like a recreational paradise. Beneath the multiangled ceiling are three partially separated spaces, one with a couple of sofas, a second with a home office and built-in bookshelves and a third, around the corner and completely unexpected, set up with some high-tech sewing machines. There also is a full bath in case the sewing gets heated and a shower is in order.

Other amenities include resident-owned solar panels, surround sound system and three-zone HVAC system.

The home is listed for $2.549 million with Scott Kirkpatrick of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 602-0500 for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
