View, design, amenities fantastic at lagoon-front single in Riviera section

OCEAN CITY — Built for entertaining, the spacious and well-designed home at 8 Tobago Lane takes full advantage of its location in one of the most popular neighborhoods on the island.

“This magnificent custom lagoon-front home, meticulously built in 2019, is a true gem in the coveted Riviera neighborhood,” listing agent Joe Sheppard said.

The 3,672-square-foot, three-story home was designed with an open layout for gathering with friends and family but also features little nooks and crannies of privacy, both in the common areas and upstairs in the bedrooms and penthouse entertainment space.

With five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two powder rooms, it can accommodate quite a crowd, and the great room, screened porch, waterfront deck and floating docks are ready to show them a good time.

Out front, a paver parking pad off the cul-de-sac leads up to the two-car garage with access to the home’s mudroom.

Mulched beds with low shrubs add color to the landscape, while a paver path winds around to the south toward the main entrance.

A porch with a barrel ceiling welcomes guests, who enter through a solid-wood door into the great room.

The first level offers an open-concept living area with wide-plank wood-impression floors and a 9-foot ceiling. The view through the multiple living room windows and screened porch shows what all of the fuss is about — Tonga Harbor, on offshoot of South Harbor that leads straight out to Great Egg Harbor Bay, is just a clam shell’s throw away.

The living room features a gas fireplace flanked by built-in curio shelves, a flat-screen television hanging between.

The stairs and first bedroom suite are to the right, while the gourmet kitchen is straight ahead, separated from the living area only by a two-level island with overflow seating. Overhead, a horizontal ladder and with three pendant lights hang from the ceiling by pulleys, part of the eclectic decor.

Offering abundant cabinet space with granite countertops, the kitchen is adorned with top-of-the-line slate appliances, including a countertop gas range with a hood, wine cooler and double wall oven. An added bonus is the insta-hot pot-filler faucet.

While maintaining its open feel, the dining room actually juts out toward the water alongside the screened porch, creating a sense of privacy. A wine glass chandelier — the glasses actual are removable, although they may need a rinse — hangs above a table that seats six to eight. Windows line three walls so as not to block the view.

Another bonus, a powder room off the kitchen is accessible from outside just off the deck.

Also on the first floor are the functional and fashionable mudroom with a built-in bench and laundry room just inside the garage.

Back near the main entrance, the first bedroom includes an ensuite bath.

The second level houses four generous-sized bedrooms, two on the street side for the children and two suites in the rear for the grown-ups.

The primary bedroom boasts an incredible built-in office that, like the dining room below, juts out toward the water. (If you have to work on vacation, this is where you want to do it.). There’s also a luxurious ensuite bath, as well as access to a covered bay frontdeck.

A junior master bedroom features an ensuite bath with a custom tile and glass surround walk-in shower, while a hall bathroom also offers tile and glass surround shower.

The third level is a vast den/bonus space with a lounge area, powder room and decks on both the lagoon and street sides. But again, like the main floor, there are no walls separating the space but there are three distinct sections — an area for games or snacks, a larger sitting area with a television and a smaller sitting area near the back porch.

Out back is a lagoon-side enclosed porch overlooking the in-ground swimming pool, boat slip, floating dock and two personal watercraft slips.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.

A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.

The Riviera, stretching from 16th to 23rd streets along Great Egg Harbor Bay, is a boater’s paradise with many luxurious homes set right on inland lagoons, providing a safe anchorage for pleasure boats as well as a great place to go kayaking or paddle boarding. It’s a destination rather than a throughway, meaning traffic is limited to neighbors and guests.

“This home epitomizes waterfront luxury and is an exceptional find in a highly sought-after neighborhood,” Sheppard said. “Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the coastal lifestyle at its finest.”

The property is listed for $4.345 million with Joe Sheppard of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 602-0501 or (609) 399-0066, or email shep@ocjs.com, for more information or to set up a tour of this wonderful home.
