Top-of-the-line materials, fantastic design, location at corner Gardens single

OCEAN CITY — The Mediterranean-style villa at 830 Seacrest Road in the popular Gardens section of the city offers something terrific to see everywhere one looks — whether inside the home or on one of its many decks.

It’s just one block away from the northend beach at Great Egg Harbor Inlet with a view of the Atlantic City skyline across the water in the distance.

With five bedrooms — each with an en suite bath — as well as an upside-down design with an open floor plan, the home is perfect for an extended family beach getaway or adult entertaining once the kids have gone off on their own.

In addition to its great design, the home features many high-end materials such as marble tile and Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, as well as a grand curved staircase leading to the main living level. There’s also an elevator with three stops.

Built by Pansini Custom Designs of Ocean City, the 3,111-square-foot beauty has curb appeal aplenty. A grassy yard gives way to a mulched bed stretching across the front of the home, where a two-level terrace with white balusters and round columns is complemented by the stucco exterior and terra cotta roof shingles. There’s even a deck off the third-floor bedrooms, as well as numerous windows and glass doors, making for an interesting architectural masterpiece.

A paver path leads through a gate down the right. Seasonal shrubs shield it from the alley on its way to the main entrance and, farther, the double-wide paver parking pad where separate doors open onto a two-car garage.

The main entrance has a magnificent covered porch where a handsome front door with a large leaded-glass window, side panels and a decorative transom opens onto a two-story foyer.

The quality materials and craftsmanship are readily apparent in the gorgeous base, chair rail and crown molding, the solid mahogany doors and the cherry hardwood stairs that curve their way up to the main living level.

Straight ahead, a hall leads left and right. There are two bedrooms to the left and a laundry room and elevator to the right.

The laundry has a slate tile floor, full-size KitchenAid washer and dryer and cabinets with a granite top. A door off this room opens onto the landing overlooking the garage, where there is a full kitchen — white counters with Corian top/sink, Scotsman ice maker, Whirlpool refrigerator, GE dishwasher and microwave — atop a tile floor just steps away from a sliding glass door opening onto the paver patio and in-ground swimming pool.

One of the bedrooms has twin beds and a sliding glass door opening onto the front porch, as well as a closet with double swinging mahogany doors. The bath has tile on the floor and halfway up with walls, a granite-topped vanity with two towers flanking the mirror and six drawers, and a fully tiled shower.

The other bedroom has a queen-size bed and shares access to the front porch, which has mahogany flooring. Its bath has a marble tile floor, granite-topped vanity with towers flanking the mirror, walls tiled halfway up and a fully tiled shower with sliding glass doors. Like all of the bedrooms, the windows have plantation shutters.

Back in the foyer, the chair rail molding flows up alongside the stairs to the great room, where narrow-plank hardwood flooring stretches throughout the area. A wet bar is straight ahead in case the mood strikes. It has a granite top with a sink, a Sub-Zero wine cooler and an ice maker and is backed by another distinguished set of stairs to the third floor

A hallway leads off to the right to the master bedroom and the wide-open great room — the heart of the home — is to the left. There is little wall space for art fans because there are so many windows, but the scene outside is as beautiful as any Rembrandt.

A gas fireplace flanked by double windows with bi-fold plantation shutters is the focal point of the living room, which takes up about half of the space. It has a wood mantel with a TV above. Furnishings include a sectional sofa with an ornate coffee table. There are more windows across the front of the home as well as a sliding glass door opening onto the uncovered front porch.

The dining area is in the front of the other half of the room and features a glass-topped wood table that can comfortably seat eight beneath six-globe chandelier.

Just steps away, the kitchen features a large granite-topped, two-level center island where there is additional seating. On the other side of the island, there’s a stainless-steel sink and a Thermador dishwasher.

More cabinets with soft-close, self-close doors and drawers run along two walls in an L shape. Other appliances include a built-in Thermador oven and microwave and a Thermador Professional six-burner in-counter range top beneath a hood. On another wall is a Sub-Zero side-by-side refrigerator/freezer.

Back at the wet bar, there is a half-bath on the left of the stairs and a hall leading to the master bedroom. It has a king-size bed flanked by windows, a bamboo-leaf ceiling fan and a sliding glass door opening onto a private deck. A gas fireplace with a wide-screen television above are angled toward the bed. Only a few steps separate the bedroom from the bath, which has a Jacuzzi tub large enough to invite guests, tile on the floor and halfway up the walls and a fully tiled shower. The granite-topped vanity has his and hers sinks. There also is a window somewhat shaped like an iron cross with an etched scene of sailboats.

Atop the stairs are two more bedrooms and a laundry closet with a full-size KitchenAid washer and dryer.

One bedroom has wall-to-wall carpeting and a double bed beneath a sloped ceiling with a skylight, as well as a sofa and desk. Its bathroom has a granite-topped vanity, blue tile flooring, tile halfway up the walls and a fully tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

The other has a carpet, a double bed and a glass door with a shutter opening onto a private deck. Its bathroom is similar, except for the cutouts in the ceiling for skylights.

Other amenities include a central vacuum system, multi-zoned heating and air conditioning, sprinkler and security systems and surround sound.

The home is listed for $2.999 million with Mark Grimes of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 425-2042 or email mark.grimes@foxroach.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
