Shirley Hoover

Shirley Hoover died on May 15, 2026. How much duller the Earth seems.

Born August 27, 1957, she grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and later Somers Point, N.J. The last few years she lived in Galeton, PA, “God’s Country.”

Blessed as a mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother, she excelled at every role. She graduated from Mainland Regional H.S. in 1975. She worked as a custodian, lunch lady, slot machine technician and at the Hoover Family Sunoco Station. We thank her for her service as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Shirley had the greatest sense of humor, was kind, generous, and hard-working.

She leaves behind her loving husband Mark Hoover. She is now reunited with their son Andrew, who passed away in 2022.

She leaves behind siblings Jean (Elliott) Arking; Mark Stiver (Jackie); Kathi Stiver; Dorrie (Keith) Cawley; Walter/Chip (Deb) Chipley; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her beautiful granddaughter Alder (they shared a spiritual bond); Darlene and Shandell Jackson and family.

She was predeceased by Walt Chipley (stepfather); John Stiver (father); Alice Stiver Chipley (mother); Jack Stiver (brother).

We will meet again, dear Shirley. We love you forever.
