SALLY ANN SMITH, 88

Sally Ann Smith, 88, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2023, at her residence in Lafayette Hill, Pa.

She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Steubenville, Ohio to her loving parents, the late George and Wilma (nee McConnell) Moore. She married the love of her life, Frank Smith, in 1958 at Valley Forge Chapel and enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Frank’s passing in 2019.

A consummate bridge player, throughout her life she spent many an afternoon immersed in friendly competitions with her fellow players and friends. Sally also had a genuine love for the sport of golf and won several tournament trophies. An avid reader, she could often be found with a book in hand, eagerly exploring different worlds and expanding her imagination.

Not only was Sally committed to personal pursuits, but she also had a heart for giving back to her community. She was honored for her blood donations to the American Red Cross.

Sally actively participated in a local women’s club, finding joy in the camaraderie and friendship it offered. An accomplished and adventurous spirit, she spent time acting in local theater company plays, obtained her pilot’s license and worked at the Ocean City airport helping to manage operations.

Upon retirement, Sally found solace and contentment in Ocean City, N.J., and Pinehurst, N.C., where she and Frank pursued their shared love of golf and the shore.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy Files; sons Frank Smith Jr. (MaryAnn) and Charles W. Smith III (Heather); grandchildren Patrick, Alexandra, Abigail, Mia Josephine, Ryan and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Maeve and Louis.

Remembrances in her name can be made to the American Red Cross. (RedCross.org)
