OCEAN CITY — Red and white will once again mix with plenty of pink as the Ocean City Alumni Association kicks off its 18th annual Red & White Alumni Weekend on Oct. 9 as part of the Ocean City High School homecoming festivities.
The celebration begins with the return of the community-wide “Get Your Pink On” pre-game rally from 4 to 6 p.m. on the practice field at Carey Stadium, just ahead of the Red Raiders’ home football game against Middle Township High School.
The rally brings together alumni, students, families, friends and fans for an afternoon filled with Ocean City pride — and a purpose that goes beyond the football field. Attendees can enjoy face painting, giveaways, school spirit, music and Ocean City’s iconic Johnson’s Popcorn. Alumni magnets will also be available for purchase.
With October marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the rally will once again add plenty of pink to the traditional red and white. The AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute will be on hand with information and giveaways focused on breast health, the importance of screening and early detection. CSC New Jersey at Gilda’s Club will also join the festivities, offering pink hair ribbons for a $10 donation.
“One of the things that makes Red & White Weekend so special is seeing generations of Red Raiders come together to support today’s students,” said Marcia McCulley, OCHS Class of 1989, Alumni Association president and breast cancer survivor. “The Alumni Association is proud to provide pink items for our students so they can show their support and fill the stands with red, white and pink. It’s a fun way for our alumni to give back, support the Raider Nation and bring our entire community together around a cause that touches so many families.”
The pre-game rally is sponsored by AtlantiCare, Let’s Party Events and Johnson’s Popcorn, with support from Mayor Jay Gillian and Mike Allegretto, both OCHS alumni, and the city of Ocean City.
Red & White Alumni Weekend is a longstanding Ocean City tradition that welcomes alumni back home while giving current students, families and community members an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a Red Raider.
