Outdoor fitness court part of renovation coming to Amanda’s Field in Upper Township

PETERSBURG — Deputy Mayor Victor Nappen II said Jan. 12 that installation of an Outdoor Fitness Court will be part of upcoming renovations to the skatepark at Amanda’s Field.

He described it as a workout facility reminiscent of a playground, noting there is one adjacent to Ocean City High School.

Committeeman Zach Palombo said the project would provide people visiting the park for fitness or those waiting for their children to play sports an opportunity to work out.

“When I drop my daughter off for cross country practice in Ocean City, that place is jamming from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock,” he said.

Palombo said a major upside to the project is “increasing people’s physical health.”

“This is something that is going to be open to everyone. It’s not just something that’s a kid-oriented thing — you’re going to have teenagers adults in there,” he said. “It’s just a good way to blow off steam and also be healthy.”
