OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Theatre Company (OCTC) will bring the timeless music of Rodgers & Hammerstein to the stage this October 9-18 with its professional production of A Grand Night for Singing, a joyful and romantic musical revue celebrating some of the most beloved songs in Broadway history.
Featuring a talented cast of professional performers, A Grand Night for Singing showcases the unforgettable music of legendary songwriting team Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, whose groundbreaking collaborations helped define the Golden Age of musical theatre.
The production features beloved selections from classic musicals including Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I,
Cinderella, Flower Drum Song and State Fair, along with other Rodgers & Hammerstein favorites.

The revue was conceived by Tony Award-winning director Walter Bobbie, with musical arrangements by Fred Wells. Rather than telling a single story, Bobbie’s concept brings together songs from across the Rodgers & Hammerstein canon and reimagines them in fresh and inventive ways. The original production premiered on Broadway in 1993 and received two Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. A Grand Night for Singing is presented with permission from Concord Theatricals.
“This is a show that reminds us just how extraordinary the Rodgers & Hammerstein songbook is,” said Michael Hartman, OCTC Founding Artistic Director. “These are songs that audiences have grown up with, but A Grand Night for Singing allows us to hear them in a fresh and exciting way. It is sophisticated, funny, romantic and filled with beautiful music. We are thrilled to bring a professional production of this wonderful revue to Ocean City.”
Whether audiences are longtime Rodgers & Hammerstein devotees or simply looking for an entertaining outing of live theatre, OCTC’s fall production promises an evening filled with great live music, talented performers and the timeless magic of Broadway.
