Northend corner duplex offers luxurious lifestyle close to beach and boards

OCEAN CITY — Both units in the duplex at 300-302 Atlantic Ave. are on the market, each offering abundant space for an extended family to enjoy a wonderful beach vacation.

Each home features six bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as an open-plan great room, luxurious kitchen, wrap-around front porch and upgraded amenities throughout.

A short walk away from the beach and boardwalk, the home sits on a corner lot with a large front deck for entertaining.

Facing the ocean, the property has a grassy yard fronting Atlantic Avenue and wrapping around Third Street.

Mulched beds filled with flowering shrubs flank composite stairs ascending to the covered, wrap-around front porch of the lower unit, while a second entrance is off the concrete walk leading down the south side.

A steppingstone path leads from there to the rear, where each unit has a two-car concrete parking pad outside the one-car attached garage. Three off-street spots are an amazing amenity in this part of the island.

Inside the side entrance, a tiled foyer includes a full bathroom, a couple of large closets and a laundry room, as well as access to the garage.

Up the short flight of steps, a second door opens to reveal the large, open great room with narrow-plank dark hardwood flooring and numerous windows and doors with plantation shutters, creating space filled with light during the day and privacy in the evening.

The sitting area is in the front, where a large sectional sofa is arranged around a corner gas fireplace with a wall-mounted television above. A glass door with side panels and transoms opens onto the front porch. On the Third Street side, the dining area features a slider opening onto the wrap-around part of the porch.

Just steps away, the gourmet kitchen features a granite-topped island with three stools below and three pendant lights above. Custom cabinets with granite countertops and a tile backsplash stretch along two walls. Stainless-steel GE appliances include a dishwasher to the left of the two-basin sink, a five-burner range/oven with a microwave above and a two-door refrigerator with a freezer drawer. There’s also a pantry closet.

A hall leads back past the entry door and a second full bathroom to carpeted stairs up to the bedrooms, each of which is carpeted.

The primary bedroom is in the rear. A king-size bed is flanked by windows and a slider glass door opens onto the private back deck covered for shade.

In the primary bathroom is a tiled walk-in shower and vanity with dual sinks and mirrors.

The entrance to the top unit is off Third Street, where a door opens into a tiled foyer. Stairs ascend to the left, while a hall leads past a full bathroom to the laundry room and garage access.

Featuring dark wood treads and white risers, the stairs rise to the top floor in an area lit by multiple windows.

A door opens into a great room with a lofty cathedral ceiling that slopes down to each side. The setup is the same as in the lower unit.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.

The Northend contains many of the island’s historic homes. It’s heavily residential but there are many mom-and-pop shops and corner cafes that are traditional stops for families for generations.

Extending from North Street to Sixth Street, the Northend is an eclectic blend of single-family, duplex and triplex properties.

The 14-story Gardens Plaza, the tallest structure on the island, sits on the boardwalk in the very center of the Northend. In addition, it contains the Historic District, from Third to Eighth streets and Ocean Avenue to Central Avenue. Designated as such by Ocean City’s Historic Preservation Commission, the district seeks to maintain the look and feel of classic island architecture.

The unit at 300 Atlantic Ave. is listed for $1.759 million and the unit at 302 Atlantic Ave. is listed for $1,799,900 ($3.558 million for both) with Peter Madden of Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty.
