Multilevel design makes best use of narrow lot in Goldcoast neighborhood

OCEAN CITY — The fantastic new single at 2737 Haven Ave. is the middle of three multilevel homes under construction in this prime spot overlooking the Stainton Wildlife Refuge in the popular Goldcoast section of the island.

Built right on the bike path with sweeping views of the wetlands and breathtaking sunsets, the modern shore getaway offers an open great room with a lofty cathedral ceiling and a first-floor living room with a fireplace and wet bar along with five bedrooms, five bathrooms and a powder room spread among multiple floors.

The multilevel design makes the best of the 30 by 120 foot lot,

“Enjoy the breathtaking views from this single-family home nestled on the quiet Ocean City bike path and only a few blocks from the beach,” listing agent Disston Vanderslice said. “The serene views of the nature preserve and bay can be seen from multiple decks, including the rooftop deck where you’ll catch views of the ocean.”

The custom-built home offers amenities galore, including an elevator from the garage to the top floor and dual suites.

The handsome exterior features a raised elevation with a bulkhead and brick-faced pillars. Wide composite stairs ascend to the covered front porch, where unwinding with a cold drink and watching the wildlife roam freely in the wetlands is in order after a long day of sunbathing, shopping, fishing or boating.

The ground floor has a two-car garage with separate doors off the turf stone paver parking pad large enough for four cars. With the bike path just out front, there really is no need to drive around on the 8-mile-long island.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.

A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.

The Goldcoast, from 18th to 34th streets, is centrally located between the Northend starting at North Street and the Southend ending at 59th Street. It is highly residential but peppered with mom-and-pop shops and features some of the most amazing beachfront properties on the island.

Movie star and princess of Monaco Grace Kelly spent summers in the family’s Goldcoast home. It was built in 1929 on the corner of Wesley Avenue and 26th Street.

A solid-wood door with beveled glass windows and side panels opens onto the lower living room, which has a gas fireplace with a wood mantel flanked by windows on the south side and a dining area with a wet bar beneath two clerestory windows on the north side.

This level also contains the first of the home’s many bedrooms, providing direct access to the full bathroom offering a tiled shower with frameless sliding glass doors and a quartz-topped vanity.

Atop the first flight of stairs, the next level includes two bedrooms and a hall bath. Each of the bedrooms has access to the covered back porch, while the one on the south side offers a private bathroom.

The heart of the home opens at the top of the next set of stairs, highlighted by an immense set of double sliding glass doors offering unobstructed views from inside and outside on the covered front porch.

While not as beautiful as the wetlands just over yonder, the kitchen is fantastic enough to make the most discerning chef jealous. Featuring a large island, abundant cabinets with quartz countertops and high-end stainless-steel appliances, the space takes up the north half of the room.

Three pendant lights hang above the island, which has a dishwasher to the right of the stainless-steel sink and a beverage cooler. The six-burner gas range/oven sits beneath a hood and an insta-hot pot-filler faucet juts out from the subway tile backsplash. The dining area is tucked back in the corner.

The living room is on the south side and features a gas fireplace with a wood mantel flanked by windows. Overhead are recessed lights and surround sound speakers.

Atop the next flight of stairs is the fourth bedroom, which is in the rear and includes access to a private back porch through an oversized slider, a full bathroom and laundry room.

The primary suite is up yet another flight of stairs. It has a private bathroom, walk-in closet with a lighthouse cupola and a private, semi-enclosed deck just perfect for taking in a summer storm.

Topping off this masterpiece is a rooftop deck with 360-degree views of the island, from ocean to bay and inlet and inlet.

The property is listed for $1.899 million with Disston Vanderslice of Grace Realty. Call (609) 675-1575 or email disston@gracerealty.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
