Marven Mon Wing Chin, 52

Marven Mon Wing Chin, age 52, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 31st, 2022.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1970, Marven split his childhood growing up in Philadelphia and in Ocean City, New Jersey. He graduated from Ocean City High School and then went on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University. He worked early on in the glass converting industry, eventually transitioning to pharmaceuticals and home delivery of prescription medications. He was a member of several engineering and quality professional organizations and has held positions as board member on many of them. In addition, he was certified in several disciplines within Quality, Compliance, Auditing, Six Sigma, Process Design, and Engineering organizations.

Marven enjoyed attending all of the Philadelphia team sporting events as a dedicated fan of the home teams. He has continued this tradition going to the games and creating long lasting memories with his own children. In addition, Marven also enjoyed his hobby of classic cars and was an avid contributor and member of many automobile clubs in the Southern New Jersey region as well as national organizations. His gold 1968 Dodge Charger R/T was his pride and joy and became a father/son restoration project in teaching his children the ins and outs of how cars are assembled and operate. As such, he was known in the car community as “Mopar Marven”. His other hobbies include listening to old-time rock and 80’s music, attending live concerts of his favorite bands, watching classic television shows and movies, and traveling throughout the world with family and friends.

Marven’s biggest pride and passion were raising his two children. Enlightening the both of them to adapt to learning both from higher education schooling as well as hands-on trades work at a young age ensures that they appreciate all the skills in life. Seeing that both of them are pursuing careers with intentions to help others brought him lots of pride and joy.

Marven was preceded by his parents Jimmy and Mary Chin. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Hok-Wai (nee Cheung), children Tyler and Alexandria; brothers Patrick Chin (Nancy) of Philadelphia, PA, Thomas Chin (Paowah) of Flushing, NY, Bill Chin (Lara) of Astoria, NY, and Victor Chin (Daisy) of East Meadow, NY; sisters Ruth Chin of Ocean City, NJ, and Lily Cornman (Ned) of Somers Point, NJ; nephews; Brian, Raymond, Edmond, Ronnie and nieces; Jeannie, Alison, Renee, Stella and adopted family members Nancy Miller of Monroe Twp, NJ and Howard Rubin of Ivyland, PA; and those preceded in death Gloria Cunningham and Nick Gallup.

A viewing for Marven will be held at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 9 until 11 o’clock at which time family and friends will share memories of Marven.

In lieu of flowers, Marven requests that donations be provided to Tyler and Alexandria Chin to continue the efforts of the charity they formed in helping seniors, veterans, and the local community. (make checks payable to Tyler Chin)
