SIMPSON, MADELYN D.,  97, of Ocean City, Madelyn Keen DuBois Simpson was called to Heaven on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

She was born at home, Hedgehurst Dairy Farm, in Woodstown, NJ. After graduating from Woodstown HS in 1943 where she enjoyed sports and was voted best dancer her senior year, she graduated from Taylor’s Business School in Philadelphia before being employed by DuPont and working as a secretary at Jackson Labs in Carney’s Point. During WWII, she traveled with friends to various USO dances, and continued to live at the farm.

Marrying David L Simpson in 1950, her time was divided between Drexel Hill and Ocean City, enjoying Ocean City year-round starting in 1954. In 1965 Madelyn began a 17 year career with Prudential in Linwood, interviewing, recommending for hire, and training personnel to work with insurance claims. Retiring from Prudential in 1982, Madelyn then devoted more time to her home, garden, entertaining with dinner parties, travel, and church. She became a devoted member of Praise Tabernacle in EHT, serving in various capacities including being a deacon. She loved Jesus and wanted others to ask Him into their hearts as Savior and Lord, to come to the saving knowledge of His grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love, to receive the assurance of eternal life in Heaven, and to apply His word to daily living.

Being a caring and compassionate person, she held more conservative views and always followed political news starting with radio programs in the 1940’s. Becoming a member of St. Peters UMC in Ocean City in the 1950’s, she made many life-long friends, joined a Bridge club, and looked forward to a regular schedule of competitive games until covid.

Madelyn was divorced from Dave Simpson in 1955, but always maintained a supportive and friendly relationship until he died in 2009. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Simpson of Ocean City, son Scott and wife Linda Simpson, granddaughter Allison, grandson David of Marmora, nephew Gary and wife Joy and Thompson of Georgia, niece Ida Lynn and husband Greg of Illinois.
