Luxury, opulence, location, view, artistry in design rule at beachfront condominium

OCEAN CITY — The ceiling in the great room is a work of art second only to the view at the new custom-built home at 2305 Wesley Ave. in the Goldcoast section of the resort.

I’ve seen a lot of beautiful homes with amazing views over six years of writing this column and have to admit to being a tiny bit underwhelmed by the exterior, but that assessment quickly changed once inside the 2,200-square-foot half of the duplex.

That’s because the quality craftsmanship and materials, along with the attention to detail put into every facet of the newly remodeled home’s interior design, and construction by waterfront developer Achristavest, escalate this abode to a higher level.

“We strive to develop all of our properties to incorporate the magnificent panorama of the beach and bay as well as uncompromised views of the sunrise, sunset, moon and starlit sky. It’s this vision that compels people who buy our homes to say, ‘there’s something more unique about this property than any other I have ever experienced,’” the company’s website states.

From the fantastic wainscoting found throughout the multiple levels of the home to the wonderful hardwood flooring, great room’s elaborately designed plank ceiling, custom tile work, multiple built-ins and finely appointed kitchen, there is something terrific to see everywhere you look.

And did I mention the view? This home would be amazing in any setting but is downright phenomenal with its sweeping vista of sand dunes standing sentinel against the deep blue sea just a clam shell’s throw away.

Built near the corner of 23rd Street, the beachfront home is just steps away from the southern entrance to the city’s world-famous Boardwalk and just a short bike ride away from the hundreds of shops, eateries and entertainment venues on the wooden way. Enjoy shopping? The award-winning downtown is less than a mile away in the city, which also has a dedicated bayfront watersports district, highly acclaimed community center and miles of pristine beaches.

Offering four bedrooms, four full baths and a powder room, along with a beautiful ground-floor cabana room and that amazing great room, the home is designed for maximum enjoyment.

A new concrete sidewalk out front segues into the partially protected paver brick parking pad in front of the two-car garage, which contains a full bathroom for cleaning off beach sand before entering the home proper.

The paver bricks narrow into a walkway leading around the left, where there is a second door into the garage, and continue on past the home’s main entrance to the rear patio and porch. A hedgerow separates the path from the neighboring property.

Wide composite steps ascend to the side porch, where a solid-wood door with 12 glass panes and side panels opens onto a spacious foyer with wide-plank hardwood flooring.

The quality craftsmanship is immediately evident in the 48-inch-high wainscoting on every wall.

Straight ahead, a handsome wooden staircase ascends to the second level. A hallway leads left into the cabana room, where a double sliding glass door and two tall windows offer a view of the beach and ocean that the wall-mounted television is hard-pressed to beat. This area, which is considered the home’s fifth bedroom, also includes a wet bar and full bathroom. The wet bar features a granite counter beneath glass-front cabinets, a two-drawer GE Monogram beverage center and stainless-steel sink, while the bathroom has tile flooring, a granite-topped vanity and fully tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

Back in the foyer, a second hallway leads right to three of the home’s bedrooms in a separate wing, as well as a laundry room and access to the garage.

The first of the carpeted bedrooms has two sets of built-in bunk beds with storage drawers underneath. There also are built-in wardrobes flanking the wall-mounted television.

Stairs lead down to the garage and up to two more bedrooms, one of which is nearly identical to the first one mentioned. The third bedroom has a double bed flanked by windows, built-in clothes storage and a glass door opening onto a private front deck. This is a great place for smoking a cigar and enjoying a cognac after dinner.

A full bathroom with a tile floor, granite-topped vanity with his and hers sinks and a deep fiberglass tub/shower with subway tile walls and sliding glass doors is located just outside the bedroom.

Back in the foyer again, the main staircase leads up to the great room with its lofty, elegant peaked ceiling with east-west planks and several cutouts with triangular windows. Recessed lighting and surround sound speakers are overhead.

The entire east wall offers an unobstructed view of the beach and ocean, with a double sliding glass door opening onto an uncovered porch with hardwood decking matching that atop the bulkhead below.

The living room area features a sectional sofa and armchair centered around a recessed linear fireplace beneath a large-screen television with a soundbar.

As you reluctantly turn your view from the beach toward the kitchen, you see a chrome and glass lanternlike light fixture hanging above the stairs.

The dining area features a solid-wood table with seating for six in upholstered chairs. Two casement windows with a second triangular cutout provide natural light.

A solid-wood crossbeam with another triangle cutout above separates the dining area from the kitchen, which features a huge granite-topped center island beneath two pendant lights similar in design to the one over the stairs. The island has seating for six on two sides, as well as a stainless-steel sink to the right of an Asko dishwasher. The Diamond cabinets have soft-close, self-close doors and drawers.

More granite countertops with a diamond-shaped tile backsplash run along two walls, where there is a six-burner Wolf gas range/oven, two-door Sub-Zero refrigerator with bottom freezer drawer, Sharp microwave drawer, XO beverage cooler and Silhouette icemaker.

A short hallway leads to a short stairway up to the master suite, outside which is a half-bath with two-drawer vanity.

The master bedroom is large and elegant, featuring a peaked cathedral ceiling with more wood planking. The king-size bed rests beneath four clerestory windows with a circular window high above and is flanked by glass doors opening onto the private street-side porch with a striped awning.

A short hall leads to a walk-in closet and built-in wardrobe, and then into the master bathroom with its tile floor, granite-topped Fabuwood vanity with his and hers sinks, deep fiberglass tub and fully tiled shower with swinging glass door.

The home is listed for $3,229,900 with Dean Chorin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 602-0313 or email dean.chorin@foxroach.com for more information or to set up a virtual tour of this wonderful home.
