Location, design, views a few fantastic features of Ocean City bayfront beauty

OCAN CITY — There is just one home between the bayfront beauty at 1400 Pleasure Ave. and the water, but you wouldn’t know it from the unobstructed views of the inland waterways and Great Egg Harbor Bay.

That’s because the home, aptly named “Mariner’s Light” by renowned resort designer John G. Cacciutti, owner of Slopes to Sands Dream Vacation Homes, was built at the point of a triangle where two streets meet, allowing for panoramic views of the bay from the great room and fantastic decks, as well as a couple of the bedrooms.

According to real estate agent Billy Mack, the “home of distinction” is themed to resemble a luxury yacht, and the large cupola above the great room gives it its name.

Completed in 2017, the 1,550-square-foot home has many custom features that are signatures of Cacciutti’s designs, including LED lighting, high-end electronics and new-age technology.

“Nothing was overlooked and its spectacular corner location overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and back bay is nothing but home comfort with tremendous views,” Mack said.

The home has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a powder room and the great room with a cozy entertainment area and eat-in gourmet kitchen on three levels with an upside-down design.

Outside, new concrete sidewalks line two sides of the home, with the main entrance off 14th Street and the oversized one-car garage with carport off Pleasure Avenue. The grassy yard is bordered by mulched beds with mature shrubs. A triangular rock garden is just right of the main entrance.

A paver walkway leads up to a tall black door with a large glass insert and side panels that opens onto an eye-catching ground-floor foyer.

The attention to detail is readily apparent in the shadow box wainscoting and wood interior doors. There is a large closet with double swinging doors to the right, a door to the garage straight ahead and a handsome wooden staircase with white risers, hardwood treads, a carpet inlay and wood spindles to the left.

The designer took full advantage the open space around the home, including two corner windows at the landing of each set of stairs to allow for natural light to flow inside.

The second floor features the master suite with a full bathroom, two other bedrooms that share the second full bath and a deck with sweeping views.

Here again is the attention to detail in the narrow-plank hardwood flooring with an offsetting lighter wood inlay, as well as more of the wainscoting and the LED lighting above the crown molding — and that’s just the hallway.

The first bedroom is directly across the hall from the top of the stairs. It has wall-to-wall carpeting, a sofa with a trundle bed beneath two clerestory windows and a sliding glass door opening onto a triangular covered side porch with bay views. Like the other bedrooms, this one has a 9-foot-high ceiling to increase the feeling of spaciousness. Also like the other bedrooms, it has a bamboo-impression ceiling fan and a wall-mounted television.

To the left is a laundry closet with a Kenmore Elite stacked washer and dryer just outside the door to the second bedroom, which has wall-to-wall carpeting, a tray ceiling and a queen-size bed — the home is being solid fully furnished minus personal items.

The hallway turns right toward the hall bathroom and master suite.

Featuring a tile floor with a pebble inlay, the bathroom has a long vanity with a one-piece stone top beneath a custom mirror with glass tile accents and an imbedded TV. The deep Maax bathub has tile walls and a curtain.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed atop wall-to-wall carpeting and beneath a tray ceiling with multicolored LED lighting, more of that great wainscoting found throughout the home and a sliding glass door flanked by glass panes offering access to the side porch and sweeping bay views. A pocket door opens onto the master bathroom, which has a tile floor, granite-topped vanity beneath another custom mirror with an imbedded television and a huge fully tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

Atop another set of stairs is the top level, what Mack calls “the heart of the home with its large great room offering views from all locations and a large cupola with LED and natural lighting.”

The great room features wide-plank hardwood flooring and a lofty cathedral ceiling, with the entertaining area to the left and the kitchen to the right.

“The living area has been tastefully furnished and has a complete entertainment center and 16-foot high-definition theater screen for enjoyment,” Mack said.

A long sectional sofa — blue and white striped to match the nautical theme — and padded coffee table sit atop carpet in the living area, where the wall-mounted television hangs beneath a large bay window flanked by a tall glass pane on one side and a door on the other leading out to the extravagant covered back deck with Tommy Bahama furniture. The projection screen drops from the ceiling above.

Just steps away, the kitchen has a long center island with four stools and a sliding glass door leading to the deck. A long window provides a view and natural light where ordinary homes would have a backsplash. The Diamond cabinets are located along the north wall, with the home’s final television set atop the window. The rope accents and custom etched glass carry on the theme.

The quartz-topped island has a four-burner range with down-draft exhaust and a Gaggenau steamer beneath three stainless-steel industrial-looking pendant lights. Other appliances include a stainless-steel Kenmore Elite two-door refrigerator with bottom freezer drawer, a Kenmore oven and microwave and a Viking warming drawer.

A café table provides additional seating or perhaps a game space just inside a double window on the street side.

Other highlights include the on-demand hot water and surround-sound system.

The home is listed for $1.299 million with William “Billy” Mack of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 425-3425 or email billy@foxroach.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
