Joyce Bakley Trofa, 83

Joyce Bakley Trofa, age 83, of Ocean City NJ, went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026, with the hearts of her family and loved ones.

Born on August 16th, 1942, in Somers Point, NJ, Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Elsie and James Provenson.

She graduated from Ocean City High, class of 1960. She worked as a teacher’s aide at the primary school for 40 years. She enjoyed working at Playland’s Seaport Village Golf – Seaside Speedway in the summer for many years.

Joyce carried the island in her heart and was part of the fabric of the community. A true beach lover, her favorite pastime was on the beach with family sharing stories. She proudly volunteered as a chaperone for Little Miss Ocean City Pageant and was a dedicated member of the Exchangette Club. Her presence was constant – at parades, fundraisers, elections, First Night and at the Fire Dept Open House.

She leaves behind countless friends, generations of students and coworkers whose lives she touched and a community that will forever feel her absence.

She is survived by her daughters Debora Grau (Robert), Dawn Weber (Ken). Grandchildren Earl Gabriel III, Nicholas Gabriel (Katie), Amanda Grau, Danielle Grau. Great Grandson Nathan Gabriel. Son-in-laws Earl Gabriel Jr. (Mika) daughter Hanna. Patrick Flynn, daughter Fiona.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise Gabriel, her first husband Charles Bakley, her second husband Joseph Trofa.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday May 13th at St. Frances Cabrini, Second and Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226. Visitation 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Mass 11:00 AM

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocean City Humane Society in her memory. 

Joyce will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
