John B. Kreider Jr., 97

John B. Kreider, Jr., 97, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2022 in the Vineland Veterans Memorial Home.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa on December 31, 1924.  He raised his family in Haddonfield, NJ and summered in Ocean City.  He loved the shore so much he retired there but eventually moved to Vineland.

Mr. Kreider had worked as a Claims Adjuster for Allstate Insurance in Cherry Hill for many years before his retirement.  To further provide for his family he worked nights and weekends at Garden State, Monmouth and Atlantic City Race Tracks.

John was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from July 1943 with the 42nd Cavalry Recon. Squadron as a Radio Operator until January of 1946 earning the rank of Tech 5th Grade.  During his service he earned many medals including three Bronze Stars and was the recipient of the French Medal of Honor presented by the French government.

He was an active member Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and American Legion Post 524 both in Ocean City.

John was predeceased by his first wife Patricia (nee Stanton) Kreider.

Surviving are his wife: Eunice, children: Sandra (Ken) Dyer, Linda (Steve) Scharff, Paul (Mary) Kreider, Barbara (Michael) Crowell, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Everyone who knew him truly loved him.

Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist will be offered Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11 o’clock from Holy Trinty Episcopal Church, 30th Street at Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10:30 until time of service.  Burial will follow in the church memorial garden.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to either American Legion Post 524, PO Box 363, Ocean City, NJ 08226 or Vineland Veterans Home Welfare Fund, 524 No. West Blvd, Vineland, NJ 08625.
