Jacqueline Simpson Caroccio, 87

Jacqueline Simpson Caroccio, 87, died on August 30, 2023, after a courageous battle in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Jackie was born on May 7, 1936, and was raised on Scattergood Street in N.E. Philadelphia by her parents, John and Florence Simpson, with her siblings, Dolores Ward (Francis), John C. (Dorothea), and Donna Simpson.

Jackie trained to be a hairdresser at Mercy Academy. After briefly working in Philadelphia, she moved to Ocean City and worked at Phil’s Beauty Salon. Jackie married Robert Caroccio on October 21, 1961, at St. Augustine’s Church in Ocean City. Living in Egg Harbor City, Jackie and Bob raised their family: Robert (Patricia Gano), Patrice (Jeffrey Vanace), Michelle (Nicolas Karayiannis), and Josette (David Miller). Together, they purchased Ready’s Coffee Shop and relocated their family to Ocean City.

Jackie was the proud grandmother of Amanda Caroccio, Melissa (Patrick Gill), Shannon and Micaela Caroccio, Rachel and Adriane Vanace, Vanessa and Andrew Karayiannis, and four great-grandchildren. Jackie adored spending time with her grandchildren, and being a grandmother was her proudest role. Jackie will be remembered for her great sense of humor, love of laughter, and unconditional love for her husband and family. Her tremendous strength and determination will forever be remembered and carried on through her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Damien’s Parish (St. Augustine’s Church) Ocean City, New Jersey.
