Corner condo boasts breathtaking view of sun setting over bay

OCEAN CITY — Unit 202 South at 500 Bay Condominiums boasts breathtaking open-bay views from every window and the ease and luxury of maintenance-free living.

“It’s one of the rare three-bedroom condos and on the corner, so the views are spectacular,” real estate agent Emily Wilkins said. “They rarely come on the market.”

The owner used the 1,690-square-foot home as a primary residence because there is another space to live year-round, Wilkins said.

The 110-unit complex consists of two towers — the North tower and the South tower. Exterior amenities include an in-ground swimming pool with a large patio sporting multiple deck chairs and umbrellas, as well as boardwalk, gazebo and enclosed parking garage.

Beautifully renovated, the condo features a unique layout highlighting panoramic water views throughout and includes a wrap-around covered porch.

The front door opens off the second-floor hallway into a foyer with narrow-plank hardwood flooring and a view of Great Egg Harbor Bay straight through the living room.

The dining area is straight ahead, where a long wood table with seating for six is situated beneath a hanging lamp. A china hutch/curio cabinet is to the left, while a cutout to the right provides more seating on stools at the granite-topped bar and opens the space to the kitchen. The tray ceiling adds a nice architectural touch.

The kitchen has white cabinets and granite countertops with a subway tile backsplash.

Kenmore appliances include a dishwasher to the right of the stainless-steel sink, a 33-inch refrigerator with a bottom freezer drawer and a four-burner range with a microwave above. A space-saver laundry closet is in the corner.

While the dining room and kitchen are nice, it’s the living room that’s worth the price of admission with is panoramic sunset views.

A wide archway leads in to the living room, where a triple window takes up almost the entire west-facing wall, providing amazing views of the bay and also the complex’s large in-ground pool and patio.

The sectional sofa rests atop an area rug centered around a television, but there is little on TV that can compete with the atmosphere outside.

A wall of mirrors to the left reflects the view, making the space feel spacious and bright. Alongside the windows, a door opens onto the wrap-around balcony. This is where, after a long day of sunbathing, boating, shopping or walking the boardwalk, a cold drink goes down as effortlessly as the sun.

Since the home is on the corner, there are two separate sections on the covered porch — one for cooking and the other for dining and relaxing.

The first of the three bedrooms is located just off the dining area and includes carpeting and a bay view through a tall triple window.

Beneath the deck to the south is the Bayside Center, which provides sailing lessons. The home is conveniently located to take advantage of everything offered at the site, or to just sit back and watch the sailboats ply the water of the bay.

The room has a full-size bed, a desk with drawers and a closet with bi-fold doors.

In the back left is the master bedroom, which also has access to the balcony and the best view in the house through five windows wrapping around the corner. There is queen-size bed, a walk-in closet and a full bathroom with granite-topped vanity and deep soaking tub/shower with tiled walls and a curtain.

The hall bathroom, shared by the two bedrooms, has a tile floor, vanity with a one-piece ceramic top and a tiled shower with a sliding glass door.

The final bedroom has hardwood flooring and dramatic bay views through three tall windows in front and a fourth on the side.

Outside, a paved access road leads to the parking garage and past the two buildings. Shore-inspired landscaping softens the scene, which includes a center island with trees. A large grassy area includes a gazebo overlooking the bay, where during a recent visit children were learning to sail with the Ocean City Sailing Foundation, which operates out of the nearby Bayside Center.

The large pool and concrete patio is located behind the South tower, while the boardwalk is located behind the North tower.

Each of the buildings has keypad entry into a tastefully decorated lobby, where elevators wait to whisk residents up to their homes.

Other amenities include an on-site gym that is currently being upgrades, two community rooms for owners to rent for private parties, storage rooms, trash chutes on each floor and outside showers.

The condominium is listed for $695,000 with the Wilkins Team of Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty. Call (609) 513-2029 or (609) 513-2500, or email emily@goldcoastsir.com, for more information or to set up a tour of this wonderful home.
