OCEAN CITY — Just two blocks from the beach and boardwalk, the first-floor condominium at 1725 Central Ave. provides a centrally located headquarters for a fantastic family vacation or year-round residence.
Leaves from the mature curb-side shade trees littered the lawn during a recent visit, a clear indication that summer is over this year in America’s Greatest Family Resort. But while the shore town’s amenities are popular in the warmer months, they also are attractive in the fall and winter, when there are far fewer people to harsh your mellow while gazing out over the vast Atlantic Ocean.
The home includes a wide, covered front porch that is a terrific place to chill after a long day of sunning, surfing, shopping or sailing at one of the multiple family-friendly destinations on the island.
Sided in durable and low-maintenance vinyl, the home has a grassy front yard with mulched beds flanking wood stairs up to the porch.
The main entrance is off a concrete walk down the south side, where a sheltered stairway provides access to both units in the duplex.
The door opens onto a foyer with a coat closet to the right.
A wide set of stairs descends into the great room, which is open and stretches the width of the house. Multiple windows, a sliding glass door and cathedral ceilings increase the feeling of spaciousness.
Handsome wide-plank wood flooring runs throughout the sitting area to the left and dining area in the front corner, while the kitchen has ceramic tile.
The central ceiling fan roughly divides the space into two halves, with the sitting area to the left, dining area and kitchen to the right.
A sofa, love seat and easy chair are arranged around the gas fireplace, flanked by windows facing south, in the sitting area. Its wood mantel features a large cutout for a television.
In the front wall, a sliding glass door opens onto the covered front porch, where a gate keeps children and pets from wandering off.
On the right, the dining area features a long wood table with seating for six in a five-window alcove, while six stools provide more at the granite-topped island.
In the kitchen, abundant white wood cabinets with self-close, soft-close doors and drawers run along two walls. Stainless-steel Samsung appliances include a two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer, five-burner range/oven with a microwave above and a dishwasher to the left of the deep sink.
Back in the foyer, another short flight of steps rises to the second level, where there are four bedrooms — two with private bathrooms — a half bath and laundry room.
The home, which is being sold mostly furnished, sleeps eight. The first bedrooms, on the left, has a full-size bed atop wall-to-wall carpeting and a full bathroom featuring a one-piece fiberglass shower with sliding glass doors.
Across the hall, the laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer and shelves for storing cleaning products and extra beach towels.
Back on the left, the hall bathroom has a tub with a curtain, making it convenient for bathing children.
Speaking of the little ones, the second bedroom, back on the right, has twin beds atop carpeting.
In the back right corner, the third bedroom has a queen-size bed and a large double window on the ocean side of the home. Two more windows face south.
The primary suite is in the back left. It features a queen-size bed and full bathroom with a tile floor, long vanity and mirror and one-piece fiberglass tub with sliding glass doors.
There also is a garage large enough for one car with space to spare for storage, and room for one or two small cars on the concrete parking pad.
An enclosed outside shower is just past the stairs, providing an opportunity to rise off beach sand before entering the home.
Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.
