With 31 fatalities attributed to COVID-19 over the past week, Atlantic County is fast closing in on 500 coronavirus deaths as the total number of residents infected surpassed 20,000 this past week.
There were 841 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the county from Feb. 2 to 8, bringing the total since the pandemic began in March 2020 to 20,207 as of Monday, Feb. 8.
The total number of fatalities hit 491.
Vaccines
As of Feb. 5, there were 28,650 vaccine doses administered in Atlantic County, including first and second doses.

Daily numbers
Monday, Feb. 8: There was one death, a 74-year-old Atlantic City man with pre-existing conditions, and 50 new cases among residents from 10 to 87 years old.
New cases included Atlantic City (10), Galloway Township (9), Pleasantville (8), Egg Harbor Township (7), Brigantine (6), Absecon (3), Buena Vista Township (2) and Buena Borough, Hamilton Township, Hammonton, Margate and Mullica Township (1 each).
Sunday, Feb. 7: There were two deaths – a 68-year-old Atlantic City man and an 81-year-old Galloway man who was a long-term care resident – and 141 new cases among residents from 6 to 88 years old.
There were eight new cases in Northfield, four in Linwood and three in Somers Point.
Other new cases included Egg Harbor Township (37), Pleasantville (18), Atlantic City and Galloway Township (17 each), Hamilton Township (15), Brigantine (5), Margate and Absecon (4 each), Ventnor (3), Hammonton and Buena Vista Township (2 each), and Folsom and Buena Borough (1 each).
Saturday, Feb. 6: There were seven deaths – two each in Hammonton and Pleasantville and one each in Atlantic City, Buena Borough and Egg Harbor City – and 139 new cases among residents from 2 to to 94 years old.
Friday, Feb. 5: There were six deaths and 160 new cases among residents from 1 month to 94 years old.
The deaths reported included an 83-year-old Absecon woman, a 78-year-old Atlantic City man, an 86-year-old Hammonton man; and three Galloway men ages 79, 90 and 97. All had pre-existing conditions and three were residents of long-term care facilities, according to the Division of Public Health.
There were eight new cases in Northfield, three in Linwood and two in Somers Point.
Thursday, Feb. 4: There were three deaths – a 96-year-old Somers Point man and two Galloway residents from long-term care facilities, a 92-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man, all with pre-existing conditions. There were 102 new cases among 47 males from 4 months to 93 years old and among 55 females from 1 to 93 years old.
Wednesday, Feb. 3: There were four deaths and 97 new cases. The fatalities reported were two Atlantic City residents – a 66-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man, and two Pleasantville women – a 47-year-old and a 94-year-old from a long-term care facility. Three of the four residents had pre-existing conditions.
Of the new cases 61 were among females from 9 to 93 years old and 36 were among males from 1 to 78 years old. There were five new cases each in Somers Point and Northfield and one new case in Linwood.
Tuesday, Feb. 2: There were eight fatalities attributed to COVID-19: three from Egg Harbor Township, a 72-year-old man, a 79-year-old woman, and a 91-year-old man; two Galloway residents, a 68-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man, both from long-term care facilities; a 67-year-old Atlantic City woman; a 62-year-old Hamilton Township woman; and an 87-year-old Ventnor man. All eight had pre-existing conditions.
There were 76 new cases among residents from 6 to 89 years old. Linwood and Somers Point each had two new cases and Northfield had one.
