Classic OC Homes single features outdoor, indoor spaces for a large family

OCEAN CITY — Sporting a large yard, screened porch and second-floor sun deck, the newly listed home at 5416 Bay Ave. has abundant space both inside and outside to host a large family and friends for a shore vacation.

Located in the OC Homes section of the island, the home offers access to everything America’s Greatest Family Resort has to offer, tucked back in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path.

The home offers three bedrooms, a bathroom and powder room on the first level and two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second level with kitchens on both floors.

Outside, there is a big front yard, screened porch on the lower level and expansive sun deck above offering front-row seats to amazing sunsets every evening. There also is a storage shed sided to match the yellow vinyl on the house, enclosed outside shower, fenced yard and parking pad large enough for two cars.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring an oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches.

A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.

The beach and boardwalk — 2.5 miles of oceanfront entertainment, restaurants, thrill rides and souvenir shops — get most of the attention in this seaside resort, but the island has much more to offer.

An award-winning downtown stretches from Sixth to 14th streets along Bay Avenue and has expanded onto other nearby streets, offering more than 100 shops and cafes.

There’s also the popular watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue, where the brave can rent powerboats, go parasailing, join the crew of a pirate ship and take a kayak tour of the back bays. Private and party boat fishing tours are also available.

The OC Homes neighborhood is a seven-block area of the island bordered by 52nd and 59th street, West Avenue and Dory Drive toward the Intracoastal Waterway. The area includes both single-family homes and condominiums, as well as the 55th Street bridge and causeway that provide access to Strathmere, Sea Isle City and all shore points south.

“It’s just a short walk to a playground, shops, the beach and restaurants,” listing agent Peter Madden said.

It’s also close to Corsons Inlet State Park, offering boating, fishing, crabbing and nature trails. Businesses serving the southern end of the island include A La Mode Ice Cream Parlor, Boyar’s Market, Mike’s Seafood and Sack O’ Subs.

A concrete walkway splits the front yard on its way to the covered front porch, where a door with a leaded-glass window opens into a tiled foyer with a staircase to the left. The living room to the right features a sofa and love seat inside a double window facing the front.

A large cutout is open to the kitchen and dining area. A long peninsula in the kitchen counter provides stool seating on both sides.

The dining area is to the right, where a table and chairs are set just inside a sliding glass door opening onto the screened porch.

To the left, the horseshoe-shaped kitchen includes abundant KraftMaid cabinets, a stainless-steel dishwasher to the left of the deep sink, a five-burner range/oven with a microwave above and a two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer.

Back in the living room, a hall leads to a bathroom on the right with tile on the floor and halfway up the walls and a tiled shower with sliding glass doors.

Set in the front corner, the primary bedroom has king-size bed and powder room with bead board wainscoting and a cute vanity. Another has twin beds and the third is set up as an office and has a full-size washer and dryer in the closet.

Atop the front staircase, a carpeted landing leads left two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Following the hallway to the right leads to a carpeted living room with a sofa and love seat, kitchen and dining area just inside the sun porch.

The property is listed for $1.2 million with Peter Madden of Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty. Call (609) 513-4781 or email peter.madden@sothebysrealty.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
