Samuel Franklin Stringfellow, 87

Samuel Franklin Stringfellow, 87, passed away on February 6, 2021, in Raleigh, NC.

Samuel (Lin), a native of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, was born on June 27, 1933, to the late William Ambler Stringfellow and Valera Godfrey Schwertzler.  Always a leader, he served as president of the student council and captain of the football team at Rancocas Valley Regional High School.  He was named to both Burlington All-County and All-State South Jersey teams, later inducted into the RVRHS Hall of Fame, and received a football scholarship to Rutgers University (’58).  Upon college graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (3B, 3M, IC) and at the rank of 1st Lieutenant served as a company commander. Lin then went on to become Vice President of Sales at International Paper Company.  He was a lifelong Elks Club member, Commandant of Ridgefield (CT) Marine Corps League, and President of the Ocean City (NJ) Fishing Pier.

He was a loving husband, father, and Pop whose greatest joy came from his family.  He had an infectious laugh, a smile that lit up the room, and wicked sense of humor. His family always appreciated his jokes, impressions, and dance moves.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Ambler Stringfellow, Jr.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Catherine L. (Brann) Stringfellow; sons, James Stringfellow (Mary) and Robert Stringfellow (Sara); daughters, Susan Siegel (Doug) and Catherine Cnare (Gary); 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
