Lucy Ann (Migliaccio) Early, 91, was called home to heaven on January 19, 2024 after living a rich full life. She was blessed to be able to live her life until the end (suffering from Alzheimer’s) at home thanks to her full-time caregivers, her daughter and son in law, Robbin and Arthur Beideman. They unselfishly dedicated themselves to her care.
Lucy Ann was born at home on Simpson Avenue in Ocean City, New Jersey, to her parents, Cristofaro and Anna (Iacono) Migliaccio. The portion of Simpson Avenue where she grew up was called “Macaroni Street.” Many families from the town of Ischia in Italy immigrated to Ocean City.
She graduated from Ocean City High School and then went on to graduate from Atlantic City Hospital’s Nursing School in 1954 as a registered nurse. Lucy started her nursing career at Shore Memorial Hospital on October 2, 1963 and after 32 years there, she retired on December 31, 1995. She was well known for working in the emergency room for many years. Lucy was very proud of the fact that she started the Infectious Disease Department at Shore towards the end of her career.
Lucy Ann is survived by her four children and their spouses: Kathy & Guy Richards, Tina & BJ Gray, Victor & Kim Early, Robbin & Art Beideman. Her six grandchildren; Guy & Heidi Richards, Stephen & Alisun Richards, Brian & Renee Richards, Katy & Dan Cazeau, Kristen Early (Tim Bronson), and Lauren Early (Bill O’Donnell). Her eleven great-grandchildren; Brighton & Canyon Richards; Chelsie & Stevi Anne Richards; Casidee & Emilee Richards; Monroe, Bronx, Kingston, and Memphis Cazeau; and Layla O’Donnell. She also leaves behind her two nephews, Chris & John Calise, and their families.
Lucy was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Jeanette Calise and granddaughter Kasey Early.
Sunday spaghetti dinners and family were the highlight of her life along with traveling. Fortunately, she was able to travel to Italy with family and was able to meet her Ischia family still living there.
She loved taking cruises, bus trips, Disney vacations and traveling with her “Chelsea Ave Crew.”
Lucy loved doing crafts, especially counted cross-stitch. She made them for family and friends as keepsakes that we will treasure forever. She also was in a bowling league and loved playing cards with the neighborhood ladies.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Angelic Hospice Care for all of their help, guidance, dedication and unbelievable care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Shore Memorial’s Pediatric Emergency Unit c/o Renee Parker Monihan Memorial Fund at https://www.shoremedicalcenter.org/give-to-shore/new-pediatric-emergency-specialty-care-room-shore-medical-center-memory-renee-parker-monihan
Her Funeral Service will be offered Monday morning, January 29th at 11 o’clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ where friends may call from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery.
