OCEAN CITY – Manco & Manco Pizza on the Ocean City Boardwalk announced on Facebook Monday that its boardwalk operations were closing until Wednesday, July 15, after three employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Two of the employees, the business said, were asymptomatic.
“We have been in touch with the Cape May County Board of Health and although we are not mandated to close, we are shutting down our boardwalk operations tomorrow, July 14, to have the locations professionally sanitized by BioBlast Inc.,” the post,
which appeared on the Manco & Manco Facebook page Monday, read. “We will post footage of the cleaning shortly after it has been completed.
“The three affected employees are all self-quarantined for 14 days and they will be retested before returning to work. All employees that have worked with these staff members have been required to get tested as well prior to returning to work,” the post read.
It continued that the boardwalk operations were to reopen today (Wednesday) and the business will continue to enforce rules for the safety and well-being of customers and staff. All staff have to wear masks 100 percent of the time and there are daily temperature checks. Anyone who has a temperature above 100.4 degrees will be excused from work and must either self-quarantine or have a test showing they are negative for the coronavirus.
Manco & Manco said it would continue with other preventive practices, including using UV-C light to sanitize high-touch areas such as touch screen tables and computers and credit card terminals.
They are temporarily suspending pizza slice sales and only selling whole pizzas, to which they are applying safety seals on the boxes.
The Somers Point location was not affected, according to Manco & Manco, but would undergo BioBlast sanitizing.
The Facebook post had received more than 300 comments with a mix of people supporting the business for its actions and others concerned with whether they may have contracted COVID-19 by patronizing the business.
