The Ocean City Fire Department was called to the bulkhead at the end of Fourth Street on the bay side about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, July 5, where they found two trash cans side by side, fully ablaze. The department extinguished the fire, which burned part of the bulkhead, reduced the trash cans to blobs of plastic and damaged the street sign, according to Fire Chief Jim Smith. He said the cause of the fire was not determined. Upon questioning, he said there was not an indication that fireworks were to blame. –DAVID NAHAN, SENTINEL STAFF
