Ocean City High School boys Cross Country medals at Wild Safari run

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City High School boys varsity cross country team finished second overall at the 2021 Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational 5,000-meter run and the Red Raider boys JV team won its section on Saturday, Sept. 25.

For the varsity B section, Ocean City was led by senior Owen Ritti, who placed fifth overall in 16:27, and junior Nick Scarangelli, who was seventh overall in 16:33. The other varsity scorers for Ocean City were junior Chris Sardy, 17th, 17:01; senior Nigel Collins, 24th, 17:27; and sophomore Matt Hoffman, 30th, 17:43.

Colts Neck High School won the varsity B race with 59 points. Ocean City had 82 points and Highland Regional came in third with 116 points.

For the JV B boys section, Red Raider Colin Abbott, a junior, came in first with to lead his team with a time of 18:14. Ocean City placed three runners in the top five and all five scorers in the top 15. Other finishers for the JV boys were Mohamed Metwaly, a sophomore, was third overall in 19:00; Zach Hutchinson, freshman, fifth, 19:01; Charlie Dunnerk, sophomore, 12th, 19:41; and Ethan Buck, freshman, 15th, 19:54.

The JV team finished with 27 points, ahead of second-place Iona Preparatory School with 39 in second place and Colts Neck with 113 points in third place.
