OCEAN CITY – Unofficial election results give challenger Jody Levchuk 10 more votes than incumbent Tony Wilson in the Third Ward race in the 2020 Ocean City Council Ward Election.
According to the Cape May County unofficial results, Levchuk received 557 votes. Wilson received 547 votes.
The Third Ward was the only contested race in the Ocean City elections on Tuesday, May 12, which was done entirely by mail-in ballot. Results were posted on the county site Tuesday night.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no in-person voting at the polls.
In the First Ward, Michael DeVlieger received 673 votes against 59 write-in votes, and in the Fourth Ward, fellow incumbent Bob Barr received 719 votes against 65 write-in votes. Newcomer Tom Rotondi, running unopposed, received 394 votes. There were 33 write-in votes in the Second Ward.
Levchuk ran on a platform of not being afraid to offer dissenting opinions on issues. Wilson, a long-term incumbent, said he believed voters like the fact council members keep the disagreements private so they can provide a unified front at public meetings.

Additional mail-in ballots are expected. Final results may be available Friday.
