Unofficial election results: Barnes, Dwyer and Cawley-Black lead election for Ocean City Board of Education

Incumbents Lentz, Barbieri and newcomer Bird lead in Upper Township

OCEAN CITY – Unofficial results show Ocean City Board of Education President Kevin Barnes leading the election Tuesday with his two running mates, newcomers Jennifer Dwyer and Jennifer Cawley-Black.

Upper Township Board of Education results indicate incumbents Michelle Barbieri and Christine Lentz also leading along with newcomer Logan Bird.

Barbieri and Lentz were on a Students First ticket with Brian Teeney. Bird was on a Kids First ticket with Kristi Lancaster and Meghan Miller.

In Ocean City, Barnes, Dwyer and Cawley-Black ran on an Empower All Students ticket.

They defeated incumbents Catherine Panico and Liz Nicoletti, who ran on the Transparency & Common Sense ticket with former school board member Robin Shaffer.

According to capemaycountyvotes.com, Barnes received the most votes, 2,732, followed by Dwyer with 2,715 and Cawley-Black with 2,530.

Nicoletti received 2,431 votes,  Panico 2,376 and Shaffer 2,198.

Three seats were up for grabs in both Ocean City and Upper Township.

The city of Ocean City posted the same vote totals.

Lentz received the most votes, 2,786 with Barbieri getting 2,738. Bird had 2,735, just ahead of Teeney, with 2,705. Miller got 2,547 and Lancaster 2,470.

These election totals are not official until they have been certified.

Not included in the results are provisional ballots and ballots mailed on or before Election Day but not yet received.

Editor’s note: At top, Bailey got his sticker after going to the polls in Somers Point with Maggie.
