TUCKAHOE — The Shore Medical Center Auxiliary has scheduled a day of shopping and seasonal fun during its annual Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Upper Township Community Center, 1790 Route 50 in Tuckahoe.

The event will feature a wide variety of handcrafted goods from local artisans and makers, including home décor, jewelry, holiday items and accessories.

Attendees also can enjoy refreshments and raffle opportunities throughout the day. Proceeds support the Shore Medical Center Auxiliary, which raises funds to enhance patient care and support programs at Shore Medical Center.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Library System Children’s Department presents Bucket Drumming with Mr. Boom Boom’s Play Patrol, a high-energy, rhythm-based music experience that transforms ordinary plastic buckets into powerful percussion instruments.

Designed for children from preschool through elementary school, the class fuses music education with physical coordination and creativity in an interactive setting.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Library System hosts Al-Anon, Memory Café and Family Support Groups.

Al-Anon supports those whose lives have been affected by another person’s alcoholism. Memory Café is a place for those experiencing memory loss and their caregivers and family members. Family Support Group is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) that provides support for adults with a loved one living with a mental health condition.

Al-Anon is held at 11 a.m. each Thursday and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lower Cape branch in Villas.

Memory Café is held at the Cape May Court House branch one Monday per month. The next session is set for 2 p.m. Nov. 17. 

Family Support Group meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Cape May Court House branch. The next session is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 20.

OCEAN CITY – The Colony Club of Ocean City, in conjunction with Wreaths Across America (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org), will again be collecting donations to sponsor live evergreen wreaths that will be placed at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Courthouse.

‘Sinatra Christmas’

Dec. 13 in Middle

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Linda Gentile and the Jersey Shore Pops is set to wrap up its 2025 concert season at 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center with “A Sinatra Christmas,’ featuring the songs of Frank Sinatra.  

Joining the orchestra is noted jazz singer Tommy Delcorio, also known as “The Philadelphia Crooner.”

Delcorio specializes in the music of Sinatra, recording and performing classics such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” “I Believe in You” and “You Make Me Feel So Young.” 

With a relaxed vocal style and Sinatra-like sophistication, he enables audiences to revisit the rhythms of “Old Blue Eyes.”

Scarecrow contest

in Somer Point

SOMERS POINT — The Somers Point Police Department, Somers Point PAL and We Walk Somers Point will be hosting their second annual Scarecrow Contest from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9.

The groups encourage residents to walk along the bike path and cast their votes for their favorite display. The winner will be announced at noon and will receive a four-pack of tickets to Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township.

The free event begins in front of City Hall at 1 W. New Jersey Ave. 

The deadline to register to create a scarecrow is Nov. 6. Those interested should email kmackenzie@somerspointpd.org. No day-of entries will be accepted.

Kids Cooking Club

Day Camp Nov. 6

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences Program has scheduled a Kids Cooking Club Fall Day Camp for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6.

The program, for children 8 to 12 years of age,will take placeat Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House.

Instructor Anneliese Kuemmerle, FCHS Program Associate II, will teach students how to pack their own lunch for school and about the protein food group. Participants will make recipes with protein foods, fall fruits and vegetables and then eat them for lunch.

Blood drive at

St. John Lutheran

OCEAN CITY — St. John Lutheran Church will host a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. The drive will take place at the church, 1001 Central Ave., Ocean City.

Blood donors of all types are urgently needed to help ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients in need. In addition to regular blood donations, Power Red donations are also being accepted — a special way to maximize your impact by donating a concentrated dose of red cells.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences program has scheduled the virtual Lunch & Learn Series program “Getting Ready for Healthy Holidays” for 12:30 to 1 p.m. Nov. 13.

Presenter Anneliese Kuemmerle, Program Associate II, will provide budget-friendly tips for stocking up on pantry staples, recipe swaps to make holiday meals healthier and information on making a healthy holiday plate.

The virtual Lunch & Learn Series provides viewers with health and wellness information during their lunch hour. Topics vary and allow participants a chance to grab a healthy half-hour tidbit of wellness to carry throughout the day.

Fall events

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring fall and winter events at the Cape May County Park and Zoo that are free and open to the public.

Be on the lookout when the Pirates and Princesses take over the Zoo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8.

Visitors of all ages are invited to wear their best dress-up apparel to the event, which includes activities for children, a craft station, games, entertainment, an inflatable pirate ship and animals.  Coronation ceremonies and Disney Trivia will be held by popular princesses along with lots of pirate fun.

Start the holiday season with Santa’s Tree Lighting Celebration from 2 to 6 pm. Nov. 29.

Join the holiday festivities with Santa’s village shopping, live music and carolers, an ice sculpture carving and lots of free, family-friendly entertainment. Santa arrives at 5 p.m. for photos.

Geared toward children ages 3 and older, the event will feature professional handler feeding and demonstrating some of the most amazing characteristics and behaviors found in the natural world.

Soroptimist seeks

Soroptimist International of Cape May County is seeking applicants for its 2025-26 “Live Your Dream” Education and Training Awards for Women.  

This year there are three awards being offered; two for $2,000 and one for $2,500. 

The awards are presented to county women who provide primary financial support to their dependents (children and family) and who are enrolled or accepted in a vocational/skills training or undergraduate degree program. Recipients are able to use the awards to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education such as books, child care and transportation.

There is no need to be a church member or from Ocean City to attend. “It is a time to share your story, to tell of your grief and talk of your loved one. It is a place where you may express your feelings, without judgment, nor fixing. Everything is confidential and you, as well, are privileged and entrusted with the heart-felt stories of others. No matter when your loss, it is healing to acknowledge its place in your life.”

Monthly Grief

Support Group

OCEAN CITY – St. John Lutheran Church, Journey Hospice, and The Shores – a United Methodist Communities (UMC) Community – are partnering to offer a monthly Grief Support Group for adults who are navigating the difficult journey of loss.

The group provides a safe, welcoming and confidential space where individuals can come together to share their experiences, listen, and support one another. Whether someone has recently experienced a loss or is still processing grief from years past, all are welcome.

Meetings will be held in person on the second Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon at St. John Lutheran Church, 1001 Central Ave.

“Grief is a deeply personal experience, but it doesn’t have to be experienced alone,” group coordinators Beth Gebhart and Michele Musto said. “This group is about honoring each person’s journey and finding hope in shared understanding.”

The group is free and open to all adults, regardless of background or faith.

Call for free Family

Crisis Intervention

Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).

FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.

FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

Free screening

for depression 

Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.

The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey. 

Anyone who wants to take the screening but needs assistance can call The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County at (609) 652-3800. Staff are available throughout the year by phone or by appointment. No cost, no insurance needed.
