OCEAN CITY — The beautiful new duplex at 829 St. Charles Place is just a block and a half from the beach in the Northend neighborhood of America’s Greatest Family Resort.
The homes, Units A and B, feature incredible craftsmanship throughout, including custom wainscoting, shiplap, base and crown molding, along with large, spacious bedrooms and open-layout great rooms for family and friends to gather after another fantastic day at the shore.
The building is impressive, sporting curb appeal aplenty with its symmetrical design featuring ground-to-roof square pillars — brick at the base, topped by cedar shake and finally by white wood — and mahogany porch ceilings.

Wide composite stairs ascend to the covered first-floor porch, while a raised concrete path leads down both sides to the ground-floor foyer to each unit.
Heading down the right, the walkway arrives at the main entrance to Unit B, which encompasses the top two floors of the duplex and features six bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Inside, a tiled foyer provides access to the home’s stairs, as well as the garage with an elevator.
The wooden stairs rise to a landing outside the great room, which is light and bright due to multiple windows, the lofty cathedral ceilings and crisp, white paint that pairs well with the wood grain flooring.

A sitting area is in the front corner, where shadow-box wainscoting covers all walls and shiplap borders the gas fireplace. A three-panel sliding glass door opens onto the shady front porch, providing the perfect perch for watching as people come and go to the beach. Against the back wall is a wet bar with a quartz countertop, stainless steel sink and beverage cooler.
The dining area is in the other front corner, just steps away from the kitchen.
Featuring a large center island with Medallion cabinets and space for four stools, the kitchen is exquisite with its white cabinets along two walls and white subway tile backsplash, quartz countertops and stainless steel Thermador appliances.
A short flight of stairs ascends to a hallway leading to four bedrooms, the laundry and a hall bathroom.
The bathroom has a tub for the little ones not ready for the shower, as well as tiled walls and a curtain.

There are two bedrooms on each side. On the right, the mid-hall bedroom has a full ensuite bathrooms, as does the one on the left in the rear. The tiled showers have frameless sliding glass doors.
Back on the landing, another set of steps ascends to the top floor, where there are two more bedrooms, including the primary suite, as well as a second wet bar.
The fifth bedroom is in the rear and features a three-panel sliding glass door opening onto a private rear deck as well as a full bathroom.
Out front, the primary suite includes access to the private front porch, partially covered for sun or shade, as well as a walk-in closet and full bathroom with a dual-sink vanity.
On the first floor, a white door with a large window, side panels and a transom opens into the great room. It’s nearly identical to the one on the second floor, with the exception that where the wet bar is located above, Unit A has stairs leading down to the ground-floor foyer and garage. Otherwise, the layout is the same as the lower level of Unit B.

Out back, there is space for two cars for each unit on the paver brick parking pad and another inside the oversized one-car garage.
Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring an oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches.
A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.
The beach and boardwalk — 2.5 miles of oceanfront entertainment, restaurants, thrill rides and souvenir shops — get most of the attention in this seaside resort, but the island has much more to offer.
An award-winning downtown stretches from Sixth to 14th streets along Asbury Avenue and has expanded onto other nearby streets, offering more than 100 shops and cafes.
There’s also the popular watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue, where the brave can rent powerboats, go parasailing, join the crew of a pirate ship and take a kayak tour of the back bays. Private and party boat fishing tours are also available.
The Northend contains many of the island’s historic homes. It’s heavily residential but there are many mom-and-pop shops and corner cafes that are traditional stops for families for generations.
Extending from North Street to Sixth Street, the Northend is an eclectic blend of single-family, duplex and triplex properties. The boardwalk begins its 2½-mile span here.
The 14-story Gardens Plaza, the tallest structure on the island, sits on the Boardwalk in the very center of the Northend. In addition, it contains the Historic District, from Third to Eighth streets and Ocean Avenue to Central Avenue. Designated as such by Ocean City’s Historic Preservation Commission, the district seeks to maintain the look and feel of classic island architecture.
The two-unit property, consisting of 10 bedrooms and eight bathrooms, is listed for $5.049 million with Scott Kirkpatrick of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors.
The second-floor Unit B, consisting of six bedrooms and five bathrooms, is listed at $2.85 million while the first-floor Unit A, consisting of four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, is priced at $2.199 million.
An open house is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12.
