James A. Schmidt, 91

James “Jim” Schmidt, 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Beesley’s Point and Ocean City, NJ, passed away on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of Russell and Margaret Schmidt. He shared over 70 years of love and memories with his devoted wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Schmidt.

Jim’s life and legacy revolved around his faith. A member of Calvary Church, his most important decision in life was accepting Christ as his personal Savior. As a member of SEND International, he dedicated countless hours leading short term missions’ trips and recruiting fellow missionaries. He is also remembered for his decades long successful sales career with Huntington Labs.

His warm and welcoming demeanor, kindness, and wit not only made him successful in his careers, but also created lifelong friendships. Jim was a practical joker bringing joy to many, both young and old. In later years he dressed up as “Dr. Beesley the Clown” going room to room in the hospital spreading cheer to the patients.

He proudly served in the Navy on the USS Currituck, with tours in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.

Jim’s memory will live on in his loving wife, their son, Scott Schmidt, daughters in law, Carol Schmidt and Lori Schmidt, 5 grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt, Krista Lottes, Kendra Kammerer, Becky Brazis, and Casey Schmidt, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by their son, James “Jimmy” Schmidt.

A Memorial Service honoring Jim will be held on Saturday, August 23 at Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA at 10:30 am, with a visitation time at 10 am.
