OCEAN CITY – Work continues on the rebuilding of the Ocean City Boardwalk from Fifth Street to St. Charles Place.
According to the city, the work, with a bid price of $4.3 million, should be complete by the end of March. The contract includes a new modern lamppost system that will allow the city to control lighting levels. A request to add lights to the block from St. James Place to St. Charles Place, which is outside the project area but to finish off the north end of the boardwalk, will add a bit to the final contract for the current job, according to Public Information Officer Doug Bergen.
He noted that money from a $4.9 million Boardwalk Preservation Fund will be applied to the northend project. It also will go to reconstructing the boardwalk from 14th to 16th streets this fall.
