Van Drew is Book of Golden Deeds recipient; dinner is Friday

OCEAN CITY – The Exchange Club of Ocean City announced U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew was selected as the recipient of the 58th Annual Book of Golden Deeds Award, the club’s highest honor recognizing exceptional community service and leadership.

The Book of Golden Deeds Award Dinner will be 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Harbor Pines Golf Club. Tickets are available now for this premier community event. The Book of Golden Deeds Award is the National Exchange Club’s longest-running project, honoring dedicated volunteers and leaders who give selflessly of their time and talents to make their communities better places to live. Since 1966, the Exchange Club of Ocean City has proudly recognized dozens of local leaders whose efforts have strengthened families, supported youth, promoted Americanism, and enriched community life.

“Congressman Van Drew’s lifelong commitment to public service, his leadership at the state and federal levels, and his dedication to South Jersey families embody the very spirit of this award,” said Ed Price, Golden Deeds chair of the Exchange Club of Ocean City. “We are honored to recognize him as our 2025 Golden Deeds honoree.”

Before serving in Congress, Van Drew spent decades as a practicing dentist in South Jersey. He served three terms in the New Jersey General Assembly and four terms in the State Senate before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he currently serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He and his wife reside in Dennis Township and are the proud parents of two children and grandparents of two grandchildren.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening will feature a dinner program highlighting the Exchange Club’s service projects, including its community scholarships, youth recognition initiatives, and ongoing efforts to support veterans.
