Upper Township honors local boy killed in 2024 accident

PETERSBURG — A family friend thanked Township Committee on Sept. 22 for honoring a local boy who died in a car accident a year prior.

“I want to thank you for honoring the life of a very special boy, Easton Beisler,” Katie Sementa said.

On Monday, Township Committee named Sept. 23 Easton Beisler Day in honor of the boy who loved the number 23.

The 9-year-old was killed Sept. 12, 2024 when the car in which he was riding collided with a motorcyclist, who also lost his life.

“His passing shook our entire community to its core,” Sementa said. “The loss was not just felt by his family, but by his friends, his classmates, teachers, neighbors and so many others whose lives he touched with his bright spirit and kind heart.”

“While his time here was far too brief, the impact he left on this community is everlasting,” Sementa said. “In the wake of tragedy, it has been our community’s love, prayers and support that have helped the Beisler family carry on.”

Sementa said parents Scott and Lauren Beisler, along with brother Ryan Beisler, have taken comfort from the community.

“The constant outpouring of love and support from our township has been so comforting to them that we have become their family. They realize they are not the only ones who are suffering from this tragedy,” Sementa said.

In his memory, Easton Alley – Amanda’s Field – Upper Township Facebook page was created and dedicated to developing a memorial called Easton Alley at the sports complex. The group will be selling commemorative bricks to fund the work and the site will monitor the progress.

“By establishing this day, we ensure that Easton’s legacy will live on and that future generations will now about the young boy who inspired a whole community to come together,” Sementa said.
