Teen killed on E-bike in Somers Point

SOMERS POINT — An Egg Harbor Township teen was killed July 16 in a collision between his E-bike and a car on the bike path in Somers Point.

Somers Point Police Chief Robert Somers said officers responded to Maryland Avenue just before 8 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of the accident. The 14-year-old boy, who has not been identified due to his age, was transported to the Regional Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City by Egg Harbor Township Rescue and subsequently air lifted to Cooper Trauma Center in Philadelphia, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Vehicle driver Laryssa Foschini, 47, of Philadelphia, and her three juvenile passengers were not injured. Authorities said neither speed nor impairment were believed to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation by the Somers Point Police Department with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
