Susan Corson Brown, 68

Susan Corson Brown, 68, passed away at home on Friday, May 26, 2023.

Susie was born August 16, 1954 in Somers Point, NJ. She grew up in Ocean City and graduated from Ocean City High School in 1972. She then earned her Bachelor’s degree from Waynesburg University in 1976.

She returned to the area and began her career in hospitality working at the Monaco Hotel where she met her husband Ted. The couple married in 1981 and moved to Upper Township where they raised their daughters, Ryan and Laura.

Sue worked at the Showboat and Ceasar’s Hotel and Casinos. However, shortly after having children, she left the casinos to stay closer to and spend more time with her girls. Sue worked in retail at All Seasons Marina before moving on to manage Pet Pros Pet Supply in Somers Point. Sue loved animals. As a child, she raised ducklings, bunnies, kittens, puppies, and most notably her turtle “Timmy” who still lives with her family and recently celebrated his 66th birthday. As an adult, she rescued a dog, cared for several cats, and helped countless others care for their pets. After over 20 years of sharing her passion for animals with others, she retired from Pet Pros.

In her retirement, Susie loved spending time with family and new little ones began to light up her life. She was great-aunt to her nephews Mackey, who aptly gave her the nickname “Duzie”, and Bo, and niece Simi. In 2018 a grandson, Hunter, first made Susie a “Nannie”. Hunter was the light of her life and brought her immense joy over the last few years. Sue treasured time spent with all of her family, but especially loved watching the littlest ones grow.

Sue is survived by her loving husband Ted, daughters Ryan and Laura, sister Sandra (David) Beyel and grandson Hunter, nephew David (Michelle) Beyel, niece Casey Beyel, great-nephews Mackey and Bo, great-niece Simi and many more extended family members.

A Visitation for Sue will be held on Thursday morning, June 8th from ten o’clock until 11 o’clock at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ. Burial is private.
