Spacious, luxurious single perfect Ocean City getaway for a large family

OCEAN CITY — It’s big, it’s beautiful, it’s close to the beach … and it’s available.

The single-family home at 2336 Central Ave. combines luxury living with a wonderful location in the Gold Coast section of the city, which is centrally located with easy access to everything that makes America’s Greatest Family Resort, well, America’s Greatest Family Resort.

Located close to the southern end of the island’s world-famous boardwalk and a block from the beach, getting around could hardly be easier. Park the car and hop on a bike or take a stroll to get anywhere within minutes.

Sporting five large bedrooms — four with en suite bathrooms — an amazing great room, first-floor living room and four total decks spread among more than 3,000 square feet, the home is ready to host a crowd.

Out front, its handsome exterior features tan cedar-impression siding with white trim, a small section of metal roofing and first- and second-floor front porches. Half of the second-floor porch is open while the left side features a bell-shaped roof, providing the option of sun or shade.

On the sunny side of the street, the home has a luscious green lawn. A mulched bed with low shrubs lines the front, while a brick walkway leads down the right side. Composite stairs lead up to the front porch, where a door leads into a sitting room. With a 9-foot ceiling and recessed lighting, the porch is a comfortable place to relax any time of the day or night.

The walkway and landscaping continue toward the rear, past the main entrance and enclosed outside shower, ending at the paver parking pad out back, which is large enough to fit two cars. Two more can fit in the oversized two-car garage, which has a sealed-concrete floor and multiple storage closets.

Back at the main entrance, wide composite steps rise to a partially covered porch where a swinging glass door with side panels opens onto a foyer with narrow-plank hardwood flooring.

This is the second of the home’s five levels, all connected by a central staircase. The quality of the craftsmanship and materials is readily apparent. The color scheme matches the exterior, with the bead board wainscoting painted white and top half of the walls tan. It’s a clean and crisp look that suits the house well.

Straight ahead is the staircase featuring dark hardwood treads and white risers with a carpet, as well as white spindles and a dark railing. Beyond the stairs is one of the five elevator stops. The first is down another set up steps just inside the garage.

A hallway to the left of the foyer leads to a two-bedrooms suite with a living room and full bathrooms. The sitting room has a 9-foot ceiling, a sofa and two chairs and a wall-mounted television just inside the door to the porch. It features fine millwork with crown molding, casing and baseboard.

One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other a full, while the bathroom has a custom basket-weave tiled floor, a granite-topped vanity with his and hers sinks and a fiberglass tub with tile to the ceiling and a curtain. Each of the bedrooms also has a television.

Back in the foyer, the stairs ascend  to the third level, where there are two more bedrooms and a laundry closet. Each of the bedrooms has a full-size bed, private bath and access to the back porch via a swinging glass door. All of the windows have plantation shutters.

Atop yet another set of stairs is the showstopper — the great room.

Featuring an 18-foot-high ceiling with a lighthouse in the middle, the room is dramatic. Curved cutouts above the double sliding glass doors allow the morning light to flow in, bathing the room in its warmth.

The left side of the space is the living area, where a sofa, love seat and cushy chair sit atop an area rug in front of the gas fireplace. It has a tile and wood surround and a flat-screen television above. A door in the corner opens onto a side porch where there’s a barbecue grill.

The front part of the other half of the room is the dining area, where a long wooden table that seats eight sites beneath a modern chandelier.

Just steps away, the gourmet kitchen features a large granite-topped center island with four stools for additional seating, a farmhouse sink and an Asko dishwasher. Stainless-steel GE Café series appliances include a two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer, a five-burner gas range and a microwave above. There are abundant white custom cabinets with self-close, soft-close door and drawers with a granite countertop and a patterned tile backsplash.

Out in the hallway, there’s a half-bath alongside the stairs to the top level, which consists entirely of the master bedroom suite.

Double swinging doors open onto the bed chamber, which has a king-size bed beneath a beautiful coffered ceiling with blue squares outlined in white trim. Double glass doors open onto the private rear porch.

The master bathroom has a tile floor, a shower tiled to the ceiling and a wide wood vanity with a granite top and his and hers sinks separated by a lower makeup area. There also is a large walk-in closet with built-in organizers.

Yet another set of stairs ascends to a small rooftop deck, where the panoramic view takes in the entire island.

Extras include radiant hot water in-floor heating on the main floor and in the master bedroom and bath and an in-ground sprinkler system. It is being sold fully furnished minus a few personal items.

The property is listed for $2.95 million with Josephine Flora of Long & Foster Real Estate. Call (609) 204-4790 or email jo@joflora.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
